i am building a 75 f250 and would like to know how much spring lift i can add and still use the stock length drivelines. i am wanting 3 more inches of lift, will i need to buy custom drivlines too? this is a street truck not a wheeler.
How much total lift are we talking here?
Trucks with a divorced case can be lifted quite a bit before driveline modifications.
I run a fair amount of lift (8" BDS Super Duty springs) and stock length drivelines.
My truck sits pretty high right now with added leafs in the springs and 35s. Granted, I have some more weight to put on it like the motor, tranny, front clip, and bed and I hope it does come down a couple of inches so I can fit it under my 7ft Garage door. I had to let some air out of the tires last time I took it out. And nothing modified with the driveline.
right now the truck is stock height highboy, with 36" swampers. i would like to be at least 3" taller 4" would be better and run 40" tires. i really dont want to run a body lift.. i still dont understand the sd spring lift. will an 8" sd spring give me 4"of lift? i love the idea of running sd springs their cheap and ride great. i will do a shacle flip in the rear with a Custom hanger. oh and the truck does have a 435 tranny a devorced 205 and stock drivelines
Not too much to understand about the SD springs, Just a little work to get them under an early truck. The hangers from a 73 to 77 are a little short, and additional modifications have to be done.
Either way, 8" springs are big, I mean real big. I use 6" springs with modified hangers under a 75 truck, and I clear 44's. I also run 8" springs under a 74 with stock hangers and I clear 39.5" boggers.
Here are a few pics that might give you a slightly better idea of what is involved. Image of 3/4" fasteners - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
