VIN Questions

F10CK154036

I know : F10 = F100 2wd
C = 292 V8
K = Kansas City plant

What is 154036 ?

Also, the rest that I don`t know on plate is :
WB 114 = is this short wheelbase ?
Color = B ?
Trans = A ?

This is a short bed unibody , supposed to be 1962. VIN plate was on glove box door, held on by sheetmetal screws. Where is the VIN on frame ? DMV says this is not in the Texas system, must be from another state ?

Warranty tag is where its supposed to be. on the glove box door. 63 is first year on the drivers door.

154036 is the consectuive ford unit number based on blocks of numbers for a given month of production.

114 is the wheel base as in short bed configuration.

Additional stampings *F10CK154036* if the frame is indegenous to the truck and will be found on the passenger top rail just aft of the shock mount and directly under the passengers foot board on the top of the rail.

Garbz

Hopefully it it is not listed in other states as stolen or as salvage...

Toadd to Garbz post; the assembly date lookslike Mar 61 for your date posted (154063);
You should also have a axle code on your warranty plate as well, right after trans data.

Hope this helps as well; Axle codes for 61-62 models; 11= 3:70 A1= 3:73 12= 3:89 A2= 32 A5= 4:10 13= 4:11

Axle code is 11, but I found that info elsewhere. Thanks.

Thanks for date code.

What color paint is "B" ?

What trans is "A" ?

A is a 3 speed trans...B is Turquoise color...any luck on finding the VIN on the frame ??? Its about parallel with the generator when looking from the side of truck..on topside of framerail as mentioned prior...the characters are about 1/4" tall and at least on mine has astericks on either end of it..just to make it stand out I assume...wire brush time...

My truck has the 3 speed column still, but I can`t tell what the original color was. It`s been painted a few times.
I haven`t searched for the VIN on the frame rail, but I really need to soon.

In some states a truck was titled in the year sold. Hence the possible 62 reference. For all intents based on the VIN provided it is a 61 model year truck.

Does it have a clean upper valance and ford in the middle of the grill?

as for original paint...under old weatherstripping edges...windshield and back glass rubber usually crack in the tight curves to where you should be able to get a glimpse of the color

As the built date states Mar 61 series; I would be a betting man to say a 61 grille; letters in the grille. But those DMV tag places havn't always been on the right year with titles, I've seen 100's on eday claim a 64 etc and be looking at a 65 model or vis-verse. They shown big differences in interior body; but a 61 & 62 asGarbz stated is only a grille & valance placment of the FORD letters.

Clean upper valance - yes. FORD letters in grill - no ...

Everywhere I looked, original color appears to be black.

OK .........

I wiped off the frame rail and found the VIN and it DOES NOT match the VIN on the plate in glovebox ........ I was suspicious about the little plate because it was held on by 2 screws , one was a #8 with flat head and the other screw was a #10 phillips head. I figured someone got this plate from another truck.

The VIN on frame is F10CK151870

I need to have this number ran by the DOT and see what happens .....

GOOD NEWS.

I stopped by the DOT this morning and the frame VIN comes back to a local guy. Last registered in 1983. The address is a rural route and the post office says it`s an invalid address (too old). I can file a mechanics lien on the title and the registered mail will be returned due to invalid address and I`ll have a clear title in my name in a few short weeks.
