There's an inch wide black strap that fits through a slot on and is anchored to an "L" bracket located in the cab on the bottom and middle of the rear window frame. It's rolled up and secured with a rubber band. I don't see a purpose for it in an '07 STX regular cab with a sliding rear window.
I did take the time to , but if it's in there, I must have overlooked the section that describes it .
could that be the top tether strap for a child safety seat?
that is what I was thinking.... at least that is what I think he was trying to describe.... I have a supercab and there is a looped strap sticking up from behind the center of the rear seat.....
I have an '05 XL Recab and my tether strap is "out" with a buckle going through what looks to be a "hold-down" that is molded into the rear wall panel area.
Not to knock ford or anything, but has anyone found that tether strap to be quite useless. I have a supercab, and when I put my 2.5 year olds car seat in, the tether strap ends up behind the seat, yanked down and inaccesible. Its almost impossible to get it snug when you have to reach behind a car seat that should be snuggly fitted into the seat. So everything ends up loose in the end, which is a no no with car seats. I believe in the regular cab that is what that strap is for. Mine was neatly rolled up in an elastic band when I recieved my truck as well.

Yup, the one in my Screw was too long making it impossible to snug up my daughters seat. She's 3 and in a booster now so it's not a big deal. But when she was in a car seat it was useless. In my other Fords the tethers meant for the tethers on top of car seats where behind the rear seats close to the floor boards. I guess they couldn't do that with the Screws because you can't fold the seat down.

BINGO! Thanks. After reading the responses, I found its use detailed in the Owner's Guide in one of the fifty pages regarding Seating and Safety Restraints. ...And all that needs to be said is "Click it or ticket"!
i for one will not put my daughter in her seat without her car seat staped to that anchor hook. The more saftey the better. After all this is my kid. As for useless, any one who dont use is just dont value their childs life.
