Replace the coils on cylinders 2 and 4 (both are on the pass side of motor 1,2,3,4,5).
I think that's the worse it would come to. The truck is smooth underway and accelerates well once out of that post idle stage up to the reving it up to 2000 RPM stage.
One of your door latch switches is bad (it is a known problem with the Ex's and SD's). Try and clean all of them and see if it fixes the problem. If you want to know for sure which door switch is bad, the dealer can go in with a scan tool and read the PID's for the door switches and let you know which door is thinking it is open when it is really closed.
I paid the dealer $100. for a diagnosis of the electrical system and he came back with "a door switch could be bad, we need to check it out".
Duh? That's what I paid the hundred dollars for in the first place. I could've told him that the door switch was bad.
I wanted to jump over the counter and choke him (that's probably why it's so high in the first place).
But I'm definately going to try those remedies and see what happens.
Actually, this Saturday, I have a great Mechanic coming to go through the electrical system with a microscope. He'll clear it up for me.
I'm going to pass on all the tips I got here for sure.
Thanks...this Forum has put my mind to rest greatly.
Got it at $7,000.00 flat.
Clean Carfax.
Spent $200. having it checked out by dealer.
I figure that with $800. I'll have the gremlins fixed. 2001 Ford Excursion V10 4X4 Limited
It's a GREAT time to pick one of these up!
(I write off my gas expenses!)
I've had my Ex now for 3 months now.
I still get giddy when I walk up to it.
She's still shining as if she just rolled off of the showroom floor.
This is it fellas...this is true love.
There is nothing new out there that I like more than my Ex. It "looks" like a truck.
The only other SUV's that I like are Range Rovers Sports and mid-late 90's Defender 90's/110's.
Oh, and early 90's Bronco's of course.
Supposedly, Ford is shutting down a lot of big truck ops to focus on small cars.
What they need to do is to put out that Hydrogen Powered SuperDuty and stop Richarding around already while the Japanese and GM steals all their marketshare.
