I have a 2000 F250 7.3, We went to the bank this afternoon and when we came out the truck wouldn't start! After several trys to start while waiting for AAA It started right up, all the lights light up, the starter dosn't budge, Not really sure were what to do, I changed all the fuses, check all the wiring, Batteries, Any suggestions ?
Did you do the CPS recall? If you didn't, bring your truck to your dealer and they will change it out for free. That is the first thing I would do. A bad CPS will kill your truck just like you turned the key off. If you don't know what a CPS is. click here Post what happens.
Welcome to FTE. So if I read your post correct you did get it started. Are you still having no start issues? If you turn the key all the way to the start position and the starter does not move at all the first 2 things I would check are any alarm or theft protection devices, and then the gear selector lever. If the truck thinks it's in gear it won't start. Shift it around some and hold it all the way up in park or shift into neutral to try and start it.
Unless it's a stick, which means check the clutch pedal position switch.
Thank's guy's for your post ! I did play with the gear shifter a few time's, put it in nutrual and it still wouldn't start, This morning i went out to see if it would start and sure enough it fired right up !! And did this about 10 times as if nothing happend to it ! This is really weird, could that silliy little sensor be the cause for it all ?
The CPS can be temperamental. It can cause a stall, no start, miss, buck, jerk, or act completely fine all within a matter of minutes. A bad CPS will allow the starter to turn the motor all day long without starting.
I thought you said your starter would not turn. Did I read that wrong?

Your right , When I was stranded the starter would not move like it had no power going to it, As I keeped playing with the ignigtion it finnaly started, Although I took the Batteries to do a volt check which turned out fine I'm wondering if it could be the cps or am I screwed with the starter ?

not to hyjack the tread from broke here but i have a question on what you said above.
Mine does this every now and then, when i turn the key to the start position it will act like i put i in accessory cause all the dash lights will come on but the engine wont turn over (starter wont even move). Then when i just slighty push the gear selector (automatic transmission) up while it is already in park, the engine will act like nothing happened and turn over.
so what would be causing that if you dont mind me askin. would it be a loose wire in there, a sensor, or just need a new shifter?

That would be either the nuetral safety switch, or your shift selector lever needs adjusted a little. Both are pretty easy fixes.

Beerstalker nailed it. The most common thing I've read about is just a loose lever. Look up underneath there and it seems like there are 2 torx head screws you can tighten up. (although leaving it alone makes for a nice anti-theft device)
