That engine was a new introduction to Ford Trucks in 1952. The 215 OHV Six Cylinder was the first overhead valve engine Ford put in trucks (if it's the stock motor)
just bought 1952 ford f1 truck has 6 cylinder engine not flathead never see want like that as i am from canada anyone have pictures of that engine
It is my understanding (probably wrong) that Ford Car and maybe Trucks produced in Canada (48-52) only had the Flathead Eight and the Six was a USA only option. I do not know when the flathead six was replaced with the OHV but so that I can be wrong I will say 1952.

Reason: Oops, old post!
Greenbox, welcome to the site! If you need all that info, you'll want to buy a manual and probably a parts CD. Best investment you'll make. That is where we would get the info.
Can you post your truck's serial #? It is possibly a US-spec truck that wandered over the border. Canadian trucks used the Flat V8 a year longer than US, and I think Old F1 is correct that the OHV 6 got there later too.
I'll add my welcome, and ditto what the others have said. Getting the manuals and parts catalogs is the best. Here are pics of mine though to get you started. The 215 water pump and fan mount, as well as motor mounts, are different than the later 223s. Stu
Welcome, Greenbox53! in your profile, it appears you are in Virginia? A USA truck, I'm sure. As Ross said, getting a manual and CD are a good first step. Even if you plan to rod it, it'll still come in handy for all the "little" things.
thanks guys you have been very helpful. I bought this truck several years ago to use as parts for my 51 F1 but after looking at it for a while I think that I had better keep it and restore originial my. I thought that someone had put a 223 in it. looks like my fan and radiator was switched and someone rigged the gas pedal and carb linkage. now all I have to do is find parts. I need a fan blade, and radiator. does anybody out there know of any. I also need a three on the tree 3 speed transmission for my 51. Any help would be appreaciated.
welcome to all ya new guys n gals , and you need parts ? just come across the border and wander to central illinois . wait for stu to go to sleep then raid his place . aint seen it personally but something tells me he's got a few , LOL . if you were closer i got the oe 3 speed tranny out of my 53 { flathead v-8 } that has a synchro out of it and i'd be easily 'suaded to part with it . or were you looking for the shifter and linkage for one ? the same guy i know with a 51 thats sposed to be looking to see if he still has his 16's for stu has a lot of the oe stuff scattered around for his 51 as he's going really dark on it . i can ask but god only knows how long it'd take jay to look !!!!!!!!!
