My kid is going to be of driving age this summer ,,,,, wondering what a young driver pays for basic liabilty insurance I have heard 2,000- 2,500 per year seems really high ,could that be true? What do you pay per year for insurance?????????
i'm sixteen and i pay i think 1000. but thats a fully loaded truck with all safety features. cars are more expensive cause they are more dangerous in a crash. i guess the guy thought i'd be safe in a obs tank. lol
I am 21 and I pay $330/6mo so about 1K/year but it really depends on the vehicle....also a flat-bed costs less for insurance than the regular bed... just fyi
the type of engine in the car makes a huge difference too, and the model of the car. for instance, my current diesel truck costs more then my old gas truck, identical vehicles with the exception of the engines. the reason...... the diesel has a TURBO on it therefore it is classified as a high performance vehicle.
the same happened to my friends daughter, they were looking at vw bug's. they were going to get the 4 banger diesel for the 50 mpg or whatever they get, the insurance was tripple that of the gas motor because it was turbocharged. so in turn she ended up with a 6 cylinder that is faster, but cheaper. makes no sense.
also, my 92 mustang lx 5.0 was cheaper then the 89 gt 5.0 i was looking at by alomst half..... the reason..... the lx is a "luxury" edition and the gt is a "performance" vehicle. its a bunch of crap but its the way it is.
for what its worth, i am 24, have full coverage on the truck and the wife's focus and i also have historic insurance on the charger and i pay 2200 a year for all.
Jaaaaakman,
Ya should of had a daughter becuz ********* really jack up the premium, and that is no joke. ask the insurance agent how much cheaper a female of the same age is. Amazing.
Rog
(I know, I know I'm not under 25, just barely under 125
Alot depends on your State also and the area you live(crime rate ect....stupid crap, like where I am it is higher because of auto/deer accidents). We(the wife and I) have every vehicle in both of our names....and the insurance in hers with me as a driver,is about 500 yr cheaper that way.Mi(not sure where you are) is a no-fault state so that makes it higher also. The best(cheapest) way would be put them as a driver on your policy with the vehicle under your name.
its going to be alot cheeper to put them as an aditional driver on your policy for them to go out and get there own its going to be high! i moved from home 2500 miles when i was 16 i had to get my own insurance under just my name and paid about 300 a month, im in my 20's now i was down to about 89 dollars a month to insure 2 half ton Chevy's (95-89) for basic liability. 102 a year for my motorcycle insurance(separate policy). now i sold the chevys and got the psd i have full coverage with $500 deductible on a truck that books out at 10k retail and pay 187 a month (ouch) when i first started driving and was under my dads policy if i remember right it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $75 a month for basic liability threw state farm.
My daughter is sixteen in a few months and is planning on using a driving school to lower her insurance roger is right about females getting cheeper insurance but even with taking driving school and only a casual driver on my insurance it is still $1200 bucks a year.
Some kids pay $3000 for the first year ouch
I can remember when I was 16 I thought $200 bucks a year was so expensive LOL
location is definatly a BIG deal. when moved from stewartstown to oxford my insurance actualy doubled. i changed nothing other then the address...... the reason..... horse and buggy accidents. i am in the heart of amish country.
