At idle im running 4000, I think thats a bit high and when I started my truck up this morning it was at almost 2000 so im thinking i just need to adjust the needle on the gauge. At WOT I hit 1200 pretty quick and the truck still has more in it so thats another reason Im thinking It still needs to be adjusted.
How would I go about adjusting the needle if there even is a way to do it?
Darn Chris, 4,000 and 2,000, I think you mean 400 and 300*. It would be nice if we could set the gauge to what ever we wanted, but I don't think the pistons would like you for that. What kit do you have and where did you get it. Did you put it in the up-pipes or manifold?
I did mean 400 and 200 dunno why i hit another 0?? lol
but its reading 200 before I even have the truck running.
the probe is in the manifold, I didnt install it but I made sure it went in there. and the guy that did it used to own a cummins so he knew what I was talking about ( well i hope so). I got the kit from thorough bred desiel its a auto meter kit. I just thought that like most thermomoters they might not be calibrated so I just needed to do that.
Edit: just checked again, Its at 100 with no power to the truck and 200 when the key in in the ingntion waiting for the glow plug light to go off.

Reason: add more info
Chris, these are what I have and they work great. Your gauge should not read 200* when your truck is not running. Clicky here. You don't want to take a chance with your EGTs.

Good luck.
Im thinkin the gauge wasnt calibrated right (reads 100 instead of 0) since it reads 100 with no power and never goes below that. Goin to call the thorough bred on mon and see what they say. I do like those those gauges Rick, but I couldnt beat the price on mine.
Chris, you know the old saying, (you get what you pay for). But I do understand about the $ thing.
Yea I know, but I thought all autometers should be the same right? I paid 295 to my door since they were on sale, they came new in box with everything so guessing I just got a dud.

They should make it right for you. Just give them a call.
Does it reset back to zero when put the key in, cause its suppose to reset to zero then go back to what the actual temp is. i`ll get a video later of what should happen.
