Hi
I brought my truck back from the US into Canada and we are required by law to have automatic daytime running lights.
Is there an easy way just to plug a module into an existing harness to achieve this? If not, no big deal I plan on using my front marker lights with a relay, but I thought I would look for an easier solution first.
Check it out - these guys sell one for about $80. Read right to the bottom of the link - looks like what you need. They also have models that turn on the marker lights, etc. if you want something different.
buy the ford drl module fromone of the supporters, they come with instructions and the install is ez. The most time consuming part is finding the wires, but when I did my install the wires on the module were same colors as was the wires connected to.
Canadian Tire has a daytime running light modual for about $24 , that is what I used when I brought my F250 up from the states. It was an easy instal too

What year truck are you trying to add DRL's too? Depending on the year, you may be able to do plug-n-play.
If you have the automatic lights (the ones that come on by themselves after dark) then you can just put a piece of black electrical tape over the sensor on top of the dash. It is a little .5 inch black plastic dome next to the defroster vent. Cover it up and your truck will think it is always dark, and therefore your lights will always be on as long as the vehicle is running.
powerstroke.....any idea where in the vehicle they plug in? I would want to check and see if the harness is there.
miker......hell of an idea....I might just do that to get it through the inspection.

Behind the driver side headlight there should be a connector with a dummy plug (terminator). I believe the wire colors are yellow w/ black stripe and orange w/ light green stripe. Unplug the terminator and this is where the resistor plugs in or it can be jumpered for 100% brightness.
For the relay, look behind the PS fluid tank for a harness with existing relay(s). There should be a connector with a loop back (jumper) terminator. I believe the jumper is a red wire w/ black stripe that is about 2" long. You would unplug the jumper and plug in the relay here.
PowerStroke HD- Any chance you have the plug and play information to add DRLs to an 08 F250? Thanks in advance.

There is nothing to plug and play on the 08's because it is already there and built into the smart junction box (SJB). Although, it will require a trip to the dealer to get them turned on. They would need to hook it up to a computer to access the programmable parameters of the SJB and enable DRL. Your cost would only be whatever they charge for labor as no parts would be needed...
Thanks! This just got added to my list for the next trip to the dealer. Hopefully they will be reasonable about the labor charge.
Do you know whether it can be temporarily disabled after it has been enabled by the dealer. One example is that some guard stations request lights be turned off on approach. Many DRL's can be disable for this purpose.
I really can not figure out why this has not just been adopted by all manufacturers for all vehicles. Seems like a simple way to save lives.

Once it is enabled, it is enabled. It could only be disabled again by taking it back to the dealer...
I agree that DRL's are a good idea and probably does save lives, but then you have those cases such as you mentioned about driving up to a guard station where it could be a issue. Just like there are many people that like to turn off their lights when pulling into their driveway which can not be done with DRL.
If you only need to disable it once in awhile, just push your parking brake down one click. This kills your DRL. Only problem is the dinging sound that keeps going when you leave the brake on. We use this for stealth lights when coming out at sunrise to get to the deer, elk, moose, etc. It only works for sneaking up if you keep your windows closed (that dinger is annoying).
