If you only need to disable it once in awhile, just push your parking brake down one click. This kills your DRL. Only problem is the dinging sound that keeps going when you leave the brake on. We use this for stealth lights when coming out at sunrise to get to the deer, elk, moose, etc. It only works for sneaking up if you keep your windows closed (that dinger is annoying).
08's with auto transmission use transmission gear input for the DRL's rather than parking brake input. Anytime the transmission is in park the DRL's are off.
Manual transmissions (including '08) and pre-'08 auto's use parking brake switch input.

I went to the dealer and they tried to sell me kit # F8AZ-13B218-AA
I looked at it and it was a DRL module, but the harness wasnt plug and play. You had to tie into lights, power, photocell on dash, etc, etc.
I had to order the relay you mentioned as they didnt have stock...or even know what it was! I hope it is plug and play...will let you know on Friday.

It is not suprising that they did not know what the part(s) were and tried to sell you the DRL kit which is part of Ford's "Genuine Accessory" line rather than actual OEM parts as if it were originally built for Canada. You did the right thing by ordering the correct part(s) which are plug-n-play.
Did you just order the relay? Did you order the resistor also or are you going to just jump it?
I just bought the relay for $127 and since they dont stock it, I own it! No return.
I figure once I know for sure this works I can order the risistor after, but in the meantime I will just jumper it for the inspection.
You were right though.....I did find the harnesses and jumper wires where you said.

$127 for just the relay? That is some mark-up. You can buy the relay from the dealer here in the States for around $45 (lists for about $60) and the resistor for around $30 (lists for about $40).
How much does the DRL kit that they tried to sell you run for up there?
Just remember that you have to use the resistor or make the jumper for where the resistor goes for the relay to work. If you just plug in the relay alone it will not work. Atleast you know where everything goes, so it should be simple once you have the part(s)...
Ya no surprise we are gettin scr***d!
The kit was $149. I have used a standard relay for drl before, but I thought a factory setup might be a bit nicer and I wont have to cut into any harnesses.

Well, the relay price makes a little more sense now. Even the DRL kit has a high markup considering list is around $85 and sells for around $75.
Well plug n play it is!!
You should of seen the look on the parts guys face when I pulled the module out of the box and it was complete even with the connector.
It even snapped onto the existing bracket under the hood! Nice!
Thanks for the help
Hi
I brought my truck back from the US into Canada and we are required by law to have automatic daytime running lights.
Is there an easy way just to plug a module into an existing harness to achieve this? If not, no big deal I plan on using my front marker lights with a relay, but I thought I would look for an easier solution first.
Thanks!
I need to sell you this kit for a 2002 F250
F6SZ13B218AA list is only $71.90
your price is much lower visit my web site to order the kit.
should have kept reading I see you got the OEM style and the resistor. I learned something today, again! I can't take it anymore.
thats if you have factory OEM installed Day time running lights.
The kit to add DRL to a truck that didn't come with it is F6SZ13B218AA
and if you have auto headlamps F8AZ13B218AA at least thats the way I'm reading it in my parts catalog.
