How Does altitude effect performance?

I am in salt lake altitude around 5000 ft what if any does that have on the truck and programmer that you put in. I know what it does to Gas engines and the performance but not real sure about diesel.

thinner air effects all engines, gas, diesel or turbine. the fact that the diesel has a turbocharger it is less noticable but there is a drop in performance.

Ya, will take a little more throttle to get the same.
For 5000 ft, it almost shouldnt be noticeable.
I live at 2800, and frequently go to 7000, and you do notice it, but it's small b/c of the turbocharger.
