New to this forum, have a 95 Ford Ranger 206,000 miles, plus, four cylinder that is running quite well but currently has the following problems, wondering if related and/or if multiple problems
1. Blows hot heat no matter where gauge is set. Can turn fan off or on, but still get some heat seepage even with wents closed. Air was working before this problem, but now only get heat through AC settings also. A/C does not work on Max as for some. Also, I can direct air direction to floor, Defrost, etc.--but always hot air even with vent or A/C.
2. Smelling some antifreeze in cab. This is a recent development, as is the above.
3. Heat gauge shows hot, then drops suddenly. We have heat even when showing hot, and when it drops it drops immediately to where gauge should be. It always goes down, but sometimes it takes a few miles. Raditor cap is never excessively hot.
4. Had a heater valvue replaced just before # 1&2 occurred by a mechanic whom I trust. Could he have done something, or not reconnected something right.
This has been an extremely good, reliable truck that I bought used back in 97.
I have read where it might be a blender door, but seems most that had that problem the A/C worked on Max setting, and mine doesn't. The vacuum leak needs to be checked out. Any and all input appreciated.
