i remember reading somwhere that the 410 was made from 66-67,
now my engine has the mercury pent valve covers with the vent and pcv valve, that would mean it was made after 1968 right? assuming the valve covers werent changed out.
so if the valve covers werent changed my engine would be a 428 correct?
Depends on if the engine was original in the vehicle. The only way to know for sure, is if the engine tag is still on the dist. hold down or pull the head and measure.
It's the bore that makes the difference. You have the 428 crank, which was used in the 410 with the 390 bore of 4.05, while the 428 bore is 4.13. The bore is obviously a bit more difficult to measure without dismantling the engine, but there really isn't any other way to tell for sure.
