Ever just get the blahs?

I haven't done any work on the truck in about 3 weeks. I have parts in hand to do the disc brake conversion, new gauges and power window kit. Also have plenty of free time, but I just haven't felt like doing anything constructive.

Mike, I know the feeling. Worse then that; I’m chomping at the bit to get started on my 51 f1 but I have to finish a project for my son first. I have finally learned that working on someone else’s stuff is just that, work, rather then fun. It has been a very cold spring here and hard to get energized but the guilt got so bad on Monday I put in half a day on the kids truck, no guilt now just the burns from the plasma cutter.

You will get going; you just need a kick in the butt. Blame the “lack of inertia” disorder on;
Global warming, the Russians, or male PMS,

Mike I think that is something that happens to all of us. If you don't feel like working on your truck, don't! Take a break from it for a while.

If you are not in the right frame of mind to enjoy working on it you are not going to do the best job you can. Just remember it is a Hobby and you will get there eventually.

In short.....yes, all the time.
I'm pretty sure we all fall into that rut from time to time. No biggie, don't worry about it. The old truck won't mind if you ignore it for awhile. Sometimes we just all need a break.

If its one of those kind of things were you are overwhelmed and everytime you look at the truck you feel like the amount of work it needs is insurmountable then my suggestion would be to break it down into small managable tasks. Sometimes making a list helps as well. Take a bunch of small baby steps and before you know it you are getting things done and stating to get back into the swing of things.

Don't fret, it happens to us all
Bobby

Thanks for the support. I know it will pass and I'll jump back on it. The good part is that my golf game is getting better.

The last time I got a major case of the blahs, I didn't touch my truck for almost 4 months. But when I got back to it, I got it on the road, now I can really enjoy the fruits of my labor.
Like others have said, if you don't feel like working on the truck, don't. If it feels more like a job or chore, it will just take that much longer and you will lose the good feelings that you have for your ride.

time it's my number two cause of blahs.

and money is my number three cause of blahs.

when the stars align and all three are not a cause for blahs, I get something done.

Oh, and number four is I have other projects going on all at the same time. I occasionally feel I have stretched myself too thin.

Winning the lottery would help.....alot!

"Baby Steps til 4 O'clock" ( What about Bob) I agree with Bobby, I get the Blahs ALOT, but making lists of small things that lead up to big things are definately the way to go!! Right now I'm in the middle of finishing up my buddy's '56. I'm getting close, but still have a little to do, and it definately feels like WORK!! Not a hobby anymore!! I am definately lookin forward to working on mine!!

I frequently find it takes major, major effort to just go out to the garage. Once I get there, even if I just go there to look around while I have a cup of coffee, I inevitably end up spending a couple of hours doing this and that. It's just inertia...you'll get over it!

It's a given, everyone goes through the blahs including myself. Call it lack of motivation whatever. When I get to that point, I start getting with friends who have hotrods or trucks and start talking about projects they are doing. Sometimes it just takes going for a ride in someone elses car. Then I go back and get rid of the blahs. Sometimes you have to just jump in and work on it. You'll keep the fire lit when you see the truck coming together.
BTW- I recommend Kusto method of two Frosties too! but don't bother calling him, he doesn't answer his phone...LOL...
