Ya, I here ya. A couple weeks ago out here in wa. state, it was 82* and I was kicking butt on all of my projects, then it changed to 42 w/ wind, rain, sleet, hail, snow and what ever............... and I just shut down, no motivation, don't give a hoot........ so I've been going over to my buds place and helping him w/ his "57" and this gets me motivated enough to at least start a fire in the shop, have a few frosties, and see what what I'm not getting done............This, of course puts me back into my rut, so I start over the following day, some times not in that order. Suppost to be nice this weekend, maybe I'll get something done then. (Let the sun shine in )

Sounds like a good time to take a break, clean the shop, get the front-end up on jackstands, organize, get the needed tools together..and have a couple of cold frosties.
Ain't no fun when your up against the wall with a deadline..take your time.
Driving home from work yesterday ..80 deg, sunny day I spotted about 4 sleepy hotrodders coming out of hibernation...all headed in the same general direction...
Spring has arrived in the Mid-Atlantic region...You'll get over it!!

I can see how the weather can affect you with the blahs. I live in CA and can't relate to you guy in the other states with snow, etc. Sometimes, when I lose motivation, I'll take out a few F100 Supernational DVD's and watch them or grab a few copies of Classic truck type magazines. That helps! I won't be doing much this weekend because it's going to be in the 90's today and near 100's tomorrow. I get the blahs in the heat. Frosty beverages help there.... In this type of heat and weather, I get bummed if my truck is not running. It's hard to not go out for cruise at sunset when the temps come down.

the blaughs

I sometimes get the same way. And for awhile I just find other things to do or just veg-out and read or watch things on the internet/movies etc. But sometimes I have to decide its time to get going. I guess my experience in life is that in general I don't wait until I feel like doing something. I make things happen whether I "feel" like it or not. I've been building trucks-mostly hot rods-for a long time-I'm not an expert or anything, but after doing many frame-off builds and always finishing the trucks never quitting on one, I've learned a trick from other builders. What I do when I have the blaghs is that I commit to just going out there and doing one small thing. It may be as little as attaching one fastner or such. And if after attaching the one screw or whatever I decide to quit and come back in the house, then that's fine I can do that. But I almost never have quit. It's the getting started that is often the hurdle with the blaghs. Whether one is an avid jogger/cyclist/or truck builder its just hard sometimes to get up and get going. Once you get started you'll "feel" like doing it. As least that's the common outcome, and if one doesn't get that feeling then I defintely stop, and try the same trick on another day. Good luck Tom

I didn't work on mine for about 6 months over the fall and winter (and I don't have any excusses in San Diego) because I just didn't have the interest. Then I just had to take a month off to work onthe truck - spring fever maybe!!!!

I bought most of the parts I needed (about $15K) in the begining and seem to go through phases of absolutley having to get something fixed on the truck. But then strangly, I'm completely satisfied with the thing as it is and just want to enjoy driving it around with the new upgrades for awhile.

I also do this kind of intentionally because with weird stuff like the full tilt front, I'm designing as I go. So, I'll do something and see if it rattles or whistles for a 100 or so miles then move to the next thing.

One other thing I 've noteced is that my truck can smell it when I'm tired of working on it and it starts to fight back....It seems when I feel I HAVE TO work on it, that's when things always go wrong, bolts strip, knuckles get skinned, etc. I just try to remember that this is a fun project and there shouldn't be any pressure to make it a chore instead of a hobby!
