I am thinking about getting Stage 2 Inejectors but also wondering is their a differance between DIY Injectors or just buying them brand new. I know with the DIY Injectors you are using your old injectors with new parts and they are a lot cheaper. If you use your old ones with new parts does anyone know how long they would last?
They should last just as long as rebuilt ones from Beans or Swamps. They are also using old injectors and putting in new parts. Just like doing an engine rebuild, you use the old engine and put in new parts to replace the ones that have worn. The DIY should last just as long as any other set of injectors. Hope this helps some.
Hey Plowhand, I see that you have injectors too. My truck is lifted and I already have exhaust, intake and chip but since my tires are big i don't see much horsepower gain. If i get stage 2' will i see a big change and where there be smoke lol ?
Stage 2's with a good chip will be good for something like up to 100 hp, or maybe it's even more...
Keep in mind, that's a lot of fuel, so you'll need to have a lot of air available, and egt gauges are a must
Ya, And if you're talking about DIY stage 2's, those come with nozzles.
I think if i remember correctly you could come close to 500 without drugs with stage 2's if you do everything else right...
In this era of $4 fuel, I am liking the 20 mpg I get with original injectors. is it possible to drive with stage 2 injectors fuel efficiently.
I know it is harder due to the temptation of throwing all that fuel to the cylinders, but seriously, can one still get decent mileage if taking care on how they drive. Or do the stage 2's automatically use more fuel no matter what?
I've heard people say that they have gotten better milage with stage 2's because the fuel atomizes better because of the nozzeles. Not sure is that is 100% but it makes sense.
yes 2's can be driven by the stock HPOP system. Big oil will help but the stocker can do it. The larger orifice actually make for worse atomazation. Think of the difference between an open end on a garden hose versus a sprayer nozzle. The small nozzle makes for smaller droplets of water. BUT with 2 you can still get decent mileage.
I believe the PSD nozzle is 7 hole. the stage 2 nozzle are still 7 hole but larger. Not sure what size. I know some nozzles out there are .011" but I don't know about the ones DIY uses. the IH530 nozzles are 5 hole but I don't think they should be used in PSD as the spray pattern isn't matched to our pistons.
I made 350hp with my Stage 2's. But again I have the wrong programing, leaky up pipes, no intercooler, and one intermittent miss. But when I'm driving normal, fuel mileage is a fuzz better than stock. My injectors are DIY. My turbo is still happy at this point, but it will peg the boost gauge.
Will there be smoke..............Let's just say Texas has more shade these days.
