this is what I have. Definitely considering going the HID route that Joe (Izzy) has IF I can use it for the low beams only, and retain my normal high beam lights. Not sure if that wiring setup will work or not?
I run the 05 lights, with standard Sylvania's bulbs because autozoo was out of silverstars, and the d-fuser converision harness and the homemade 50 cent britebox mod. The output is outstanding, and Im still thinking about getting them damn silverstars, but for now I have other things I am working on.
2007 Harleys, with silver stars, diode in spare plug to retain low beams when switched to hi beams, upgraded wiring harness, and silverstars in the fogs too. Yeah, it's bright!
OEM Headlights and silverstars from the truck three posts up heh. They look great and they added alot more visiablity compared to stock 99-01 headlights.

As long as they have the same bulb type in a HID configuration, it will work. The wiring harness is moot because HIDs draw about half the current of Halogens (or less). All you have to do is pull out the old bulb, attach the HID power supply to a convenient point on the fender, plug the OEM harness in the power supply pig tail, then put the HID bulb in and connect the power supply to the new bulb. HID conversion complete. Super easy!!! I have the 8000Ks in mine they are BRIGHT white with a slight blue tint. The 6000Ks are supposed to be pure white, so if I ever have to replace them I might go that route. I wouldn't go any higher than 8000s though -- they are too blue IMHO.

Looks like you and I have the same crap. And they weren't cheap. I have installed Silverstars in the bright side, done the 'big wire' mod, run mine on bright all the time and still the lighting is poor (rarely get a flash from oncoming traffic). My wife's Rav4 has better lighting on dim than I do. Good lluck finding good lighting and please keep us posted on what you end up with. I may follow your lead.
