Toe in

I need to check my toe in. I did a search and found what I believe to be the best, easiest and most accurate way to measure at home. Put a tack in each front tire tread at the back of the tire. Measure as best you can between them. Then roll the truck forward till the tacks are in front. measure again. I'm satisfied that this method will get me real close.

Now the problem. On all the searches I went to and in my Haynes, they dont give any numbers for degrees. Some people said the mesurements should be 1/2" differnce, some said 1/8". But that would change for differnt tire sizes. Does any know? Not think, but know. If I had degrees, I could figure it out. If I had a good mesurement for say 31" tires, I could figure it out for mine. Anyone?

You should shoot for about 1/8" toed in. No more than 1/4" in. Make sure you press outward on the front of both tires before you measure, which simulates the way the friction on the road is going to try to force them outward.

Do you understand if I measure (as per above) an 1/8" toe in on 30" tires, that I will have about 3/16" on 36" tires. It would seem I need degrees or a measurement takin at a known distance from center of wheel.
