With nothing to reference by I bought a set Autolite 45's for my 302 because the kid at Kragen's said they were the right ones. I have very little faith in the kid at Kragen's other than hoping he's right. So what do you guys use?
They do fit in the head, that's a good sign, but I'm wondering about the heat range.
Well I can't say for sure but I know my 351W takes the 26's. Should be somewhere in the same range depending on temp range of the plug. Hope this helps some.
I tell you what...I've used the Bosch platinum's (with 4 tips)..the platinum splitfires...and Autolites....but I feel the best plug that I've installed are the NGK v-groove plugs...It's what we ran in our race car and I was very impressed, so I put them in my truck...
Seems to me no one has really asnwered his question of "What type of plugs are right for my 302?" Quit pluging your platnum blah blah blahs and answer his question. LOL Or if you can't, don't waste his time reading your posts. Open your own topic on it.
There I feel better. I had to vent a little this morning.
And if you notice in the last sentence "what heat range" is also used. So he is in turn asking what Part Number Autolites do you use. Duh! You can chime in here any time pntrbil. God only knows what you really want to know. LOL It's all fun and games 'til I get a blown head gasket. Or what ever else my truck wants to throw at me.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Jan-02 AT 01:33 AM (EST)]Airharley, Thanks for slamming those that are trying to help. It's sooooo condusive to the free flow of information and conversation.
And, they aren't "my" platinum blah blahs, it's just what I use....answering the part of the question that I could answer.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Jan-02 AT 09:31 PM (EST)] I think " FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA"
WHATS WRONG WITH MOTORCRAFT AND USE THEIR HT RANGE>
They work good for me. THEY HAVE worked better than substitute"s I have see some that rusted ,became weak, broke off when trying to remove. I use a touch of anti seize on thread. Don't try for 100,000 mi they don't cost that much. Sure beat's pulling head to drill out broken plug.
chuck
On my 302, I use Autolite #45 gapped at .044 with 6A ignition box, Accel Super coil, ProBillet distributor and Accel 300+ wires for plug wires and coil wire. Hope this helps.
