73-79 Shortbox trucks

Ive got two different questions, one, does anyone produce a new complete shortbed? And two, does anyone know if theres any frame or mounting differences between styleside and flairside? Im thinking about swaping from a flairside to a styleside bed on my 77.

I believe the bed mounting is the same between a short bed and a flareside/ stepside sb.

I saw that site, but I think they only offer 8', unless I missed the 6 1/2' bed.

New short bed....No, nothing new is reproduced. Finding new 6 1/2 bedsides are going to be tough to find also. Best bet is to call some of the FTE sponsers such as Mike truck salvage to see if you can find either bedsides or a complete used bed.

If you are good at bodywork, couldnt you get a Longbox and just cut it to fit?

I think all parts are available from different vendors to just rebuild a new bed. I know you can buy the fenders, bed section, wheel humps, etc. It may be kind of expensive, but you would wind up with an awesome looking bed!

Just a suggestion!

Yea, if you're going to use aftermarket pieces and panels to rebuild one yourself, you not only better be good at bodywork, but hope you never have your shop broom fall against it - like tinfoil. Given your location, check out rustfreeparts.com

I agree about the body work. You need body work knowledge or someone in the business.
I have a good friend (and a Ford enthusiast with a pristine 63 1/2 Galaxie) that owns a body shop. He does great work cheap. If any of you NM guys need classic (only classic pre 80's) body work done PM me and I will get you in touch. He does awesome work, and he does it for the love of it, not the money!
