My 2000 EB with 5.4 shows 13~15mpg routinely.
I woud say the easiest and cheapest ways to improve mileage are:
- Don't drive with a lead foot. Accelerate gently from stops, don't try to maintain full speed up hills.
- Use good highway tires, not old tires or all-terrains, and keep them inflated properly.
- new spark plugs and air cleaner
- Don't carry a lot of useless weight in the back when not necessary.
- Use the air conditioning as little as possible

What I have done to mine is in my sig and would work for you (minus the headlights of course). wasnt expensive and boosted MPG considerably.

When you say boosted your mpg considerably... what are we talking here? 12mpg to 13?
I regularly get 12-13 city and 15-17 highway and that's without any breathing mods. 3" lift and 22's with 33" street tires

Well compared to the normal 40 series its quieter when it needs to be instead of loud ALL the time. Its not gonna sound like nothing is there like the stock does with all the baffles and such but it makes it sound like its got a pair when you step on it.

2WD vs 4WD would make a difference in mpg.
