Maybe moving need large trailer to pull behind supeduty
Ok, guys it not official yet, but I may be moving in the near future, and I need a large enclosed trailer to pull behind the Super Duty. I don't own a large trailer. Thinking 20-28' enclosed car hauler or something. No one I can find with in 100 miles of Alexandria MN will rent one. I looked at Uhaul and there biggest is 12' and pretty much every other company around here 12' is the biggest they rent. Apparently thats pretty much the maximum capacity for 1/2 ton(probably a chevy). So I was wondering if you guys had any ideas. I am going to be moving about 600 miles south if everything works out. I will know for sure in the next 8 weeks. Do you guys know of any national moving companies the rent larger trailers. It would be nice to leave it down there, but if not my dad's F-150 should be able to pull it back home empty I would think. Thanks for the help, sorry for the long post.

trailers for sale or rent
Probably your best bet is to get a used one, then sell it down there.
Geyers sure doesn't rent any big ones.
Here's a quick find.
24' STEEL KING COBRA CARGO TRAILER
Hey you don't need to move, it'll be 68 degrees today

Have you looked into a ABF U-PACK ,or PODS . ABF will drop a 28' trailer . You load ,and call them when your done. Same thing with PODS,and you lock your load. Check your yellow pages. This is the routes I would go with. I have seen a few of my buddies get hosed by some of the moving companies. Last minute rate increases ,and or personals missing.

Or just rent a U-Haul truck. Anything like this has to be less expensive than buying a trailer unless you want to keep it or are willing to risk not getting what you want for it when selling it.

I concur with Kwik...rent a 24-26' diesel truck from Enterprise, Penske (or if you have to U-Haul). You could also rent a dolly (or open car trailer)) and put your truck on it and tow it with the rental truck.

Your best bet is to Rent a large U-haul, Penske or Enterprise, I believe U-Haul has the best price that is what we used, we could get any diesel E-Series we got stuck with a V-10... never again.
You definatly don't want to go with a tow dolly unless you want to go 45MPH max, Mike and Jeremy had a great experiance with them. Also no body seems to rent a large enough trailer for these trucks as well.

When we moved mom-in-law down here from Ohio we used the ABF deal I liked that . They dropped a pup at moms we loaded it they hauled it down and will bring to your new house, with the cost of fuel , the cost of rental truck those thing really suck fuel or gas depending what you end up with I would at least look into it .

You're in Minnesota - think 'horse trailer'. I used my g/f's 20' horse trailer to move, and pretty much did it in a single trip. if you're worried about rain, you can buy BIG disposable plastic paint dropcloths from Home Depot or similar to cover everything. Otherwise, maybe the PODS idea is your best bet

I am about to use ABF. They are cheaper than U-Haul with fuel prices the way they are. It is costing me $4,500 for a 28 foot trailer from Anchorage, AK to El Paso, TX. It was gonna cost me almost $10,000 with U-haul. I guess that it really depends on how far you are moving. 600 miles is only 2 tanks of fuel and if you can find a trailer that is not too expensive you might come out fairly cheap.

Justin and I had thought about using them once. This is what changed our mind. I just thought you might like to see it.
