I'll be picking up my new SD 350 Lariat 4x4 when I get home in just 33 days. I will be using the truck to tow my boat, with an insert camper in the bed sometimes.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of liner to use and if I should have it come up over the top where the bed stakes would go. And also, what type of cover I should get for when the truck bed isn't being used to carry the camper or big stuff.
don't they already come with the rail covers? they were on mine and there was no mention of it on the invoice, unless it is inherently included in a package.
I agree guys, the spray in liners are the best way to protect your investment, but in my case i have to load and unload musical gear and the ford liner is nice and slippery and slides in in and out perfect.
I have an "Undercover" cover (I need to update my photo below). Two people can easily remove it. I've even removed it alone. Just make sure you're parked on grass when you do so because you'll be sliding it off to one side when doing so.
Only problem I can think of with the "Undercover" is if you'll be frequently hauling things more than 3'-4' high. The cover only opens so far and the space rapidly narrows toward the cab. I never measured it but the angle of the raised cover must be in the 30-40 degree range.
I like the bedliner I have because it seems to protect from impact damage better. I realize the plastic bounces back and the bed won't, but yes I have checked. It has a very high skid resistance, this particular brand and model, but others are very slippery. The linex was decent, too. But it seemed easier to dent the bed. In all reality I would probably have both a spray in and the plastic liner because in just one year the bed paint has taken a lot of abuse from the liner, and I've seen many with years of abuse that look horrible. .
I believe that rhino is the best for non skid if that is what your looking for. I have a line-x and wish it were a rhino so my stuff didn't slide around.
I went with speed liner, it was a bit cheaper than the rhino, the dealer was closer to my home, and the installer didn't charge extra for color. A friend got a rhino on his 2007 and it has large chips coming off. The dealer refuses to honor the warranty, says the "application is too agressive for the material". I suspect that the installer didn't properly prepare the surface. We haul the same kinds of items and my speed liner is un scratched. I may put a drop in liner over the spray in just to keep it from denting.

Though I am a Line-X fan - Rhino also makes good with their product - see if your friend could conact someone higher up than the dealer. I've never heard of an 'application is too aggressive for the material'. Is that in thier brochure or warranty certificate? I just never have been a fan of 'dealers' and usually if you keep going 'up the ladder' it will get fixed.
