i have the factory 24lb injectors in my 7.5l and looking to upgrade since my dicovery this weekend. it a '92 f-250 the motor as been bored 30 over ive done exaust, costom cold air intake, and i think my injector are holding me back. so what size injectors should i use.
I very seriously doubt that your injectors can't supply the fuel your engine needs. What was your discovery this weekend that made you think you need bigger injectors?
well the overbore & pretty the motor is camed and every spark pulge was white ie. lean just like last time i changed them thought was the O2 sensor so i changed that in plugs are still the same lean just like last time so now im thing injectors. do you have any segustion what size to go with?
If you are indeed making 350 horsepower, assuming a BSFC of 0.5, this calculator (Fuel Injector Calculator from WitchHunter Performance) gives a size of approximately 25 lb/hr. The most cost-effective way to increase the fuel flow capacity for your truck would be to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and increase the pressure slightly, since the difference between what you have now and what a cheesy online calculator says is quite small. I believe the next size up on Ford Bosch injectors is 30 lb/hr, which would likely be too much for the stock computer to adjust for.
You can't just plug in larger injectors, the computer has to be reprogrammed for them. 27lb/hr squirters are what's required to supply 350hp reliably,(80% dutycycle or less), but the 24's can be stretched with a higher fuel pressure as Eric suggested. This is the best option right now since the computer in your truck is not programmable and would have to be changed.
ya i know ill need to get a chip i was planing on that any one used the costom chips by motorvation Motorvation Performance Chips Ford Trucks
