1986 Solid Axle F250

My friend has a 1986 F250 with running gear out of a 97 F350. He has no idea how it was done he bought it that way. I was wondering what all is involved in that sort of swap. Has anyone else done it? I will try to get pics soon if you guys wanna see, its sitting on 38's but could easily clear 40's. I think it has the 10.25 rear end and the 9.25 front end? It is also a 460 BTW.

Try using the "search" feature. This has been covered way too many times already.

The front end is, if it's out of a 97 F-350, is going to be a Dana 60. To do this swap is really easy. All you have to do is unbolt the TTB front axle that's in there and bolt in the solid axle. No fabrication is needed, other than trying to fabricate $1000-1500 a Dana 60 is going for.

There's a member in the offroading section called "fishmann.com", or something like that, that has done this swap on his 85 F-250. He has some pretty good pics in his gallery.

That I'm not really sure of, but as far as I know, you could probably use the driveshaft from the donor truck, (if it had one).

Just google: Ford solid axle swap and you'll get tons of hits.

It's known as an SAS and it's a bolt in deal if you can afford it.........
