Stock setting on a Chip

I've been reading some of these threads on chip settings and what they accomplish and one question came up that got me to wondering:

Is there a valid reason to have a "STOCK" setting & why?

I could understand this if your truck was still under warranty (Kinda) but I don't think that we have any OBS's under warranty.

Several reasons.

Someone else driving your truck.

State inspection for opacity check

Quick way to gauge how your mods do on a stock program.

Towing Huge to keep the egt's down etc.

I have been told that jody said the stock setting should be used when the truck is cold. I always start in the stock setting and when the motor warms up then Ill turn it up. Something to do with the timing..... I dont know

also if your having a problem with your truck you can return it to the stock setting to see if its a problem with the programing causing the problem

Ok, cody, the other reasons make sense, but for towing? why wouldnt you get a tow program?

My stock setting will run higher egts and lower boost when towing heavy. switch over to tow and the higher boost lowers the egts by a few hundred degrees

I have my chip with one position as stock/high idle combined for best cold warm-ups... and all the other things said above.
