Another Lowering question

About to order the DJM dream beams and DJM calmax super shox all around because the rear lowered a little more then I though it would. If I put the Calmax drop shocks in the back will the back raise any? If it would raise about 1.5 inches I wouldn't need the front lowered.

Here is how it looks now.

i think you should go ahead and get the beams it will look cool i did mine like a month or so ago i love it, i didnt notice the shocks lifting it up any just felt alot better than the tired 20 year old shocks. the front really dont need new shocks just the back. it does seem like your droped more than mine or you have a taller tire.

Yea i really want to lower the front too its just the dream beams are so damn expensive!

I guess ill go ahead and get them.

I hope I can get the rear to lift up alittle so I can get some 15x10 wheels with 285 tires on the back.
MY current tires are 235/75/15

There is an 80 F100 forsale locally that I looked at today and it had 295s with 15x10 rims on the back and it looked sweeeet even though they were bald.

i dont know, you could leave it and get that size tire but i dont know about the 15x10 wheel maybe 15x8, i know wel love those huge tires but on the lowerd trucks that wide can lead to more headeches when the truck goes over bumps and hits the fender lip.

Shocks have nothing to do with ride height unless they are coilovers or air shocks. They only dampen your suspension.

Not trying to be a dick but it looks to me that this wasn't a well thought out project, and you didn't do any research before bolting stuff on.

Having said that, you are going to have to add leaves or re-arch your springs to raise the rear. You could also ghetto it out with some air shocks like they did in the old days.

How was it not thought out? I wanted my truck lowered and love how it is. The only research I could really do is on here and there arnt many people who have lowered an 80-86 F150..

Seeing antunez13s truck is all I had to go by how low it would be and I love how his looks.

I think I can get alittle lift by messing with the shackles. All I want is to be able to put some wider tires on it.

Im 18 years old and have very limited money. Im slowly getting my truck how I want it. I just want to make sure before I spend $480 on dream beams and shocks. $500 is ALOT of money to me...

antunez13
Did you have any problems putting on the dream beams? Did you put in new ball joints too? Anything I should be concerned about while im putting them in?

I guess Ill keep my wheels and go with some 275x60x15s on the back. Only reason I want 10" rears is it seems the tires look alot wider on 10" rims then on 8"s

It was sorta a hassle but perfectly doable, get a balljoint seperator, go ahead get new balljoints there cheap, go to autozone rent a ball joint press, i dont know how you are on tools all i had was like a hundered set of craftsman tools but i ended driving to the store alot to pick up wrenches i didnt have, sorry i couldnt tell you the sizes. There is one nut on the beam that seems like it would nerver come off use a huge breaker bar and brace two feet aginst the truck and pull with all your wait after a hour of blood sweat and tears it will come off.

if you need any help ill try to be of assistance not many people on here lower these trucks so its hard to get the answeres some times.

Its been lowered for about 8 months now. I love it. Check out my gallery to see pics of it with the 3/5 drop done and on street tires.

Just bought a new truck yesterday though so I will have to sell the 86
