Ok hopefully I will be able to find what you are looking for.I also heard of a place about a hour or so from where I live that has mostly Ford Trucks of all years. If I can find it I will check there I need a rust free Bed.
If y'all send me some pictures I will be glad to look for the trim.If I can find them where I plan to go it won't be expensive and y'all can polish them out.
You can't really just polish...it'll still look pretty bad. I went through this when I did the resto job on my 77. First looked at it with the old chrome...it looked horrible. Then I tried piecing together good looking trim (100 bucks at junk yards)...still didn't look good for a resto. Then I decided to ask my local body shop to strip and refinish another set I had ($4-500). Looked pretty good I'd use it. I also bought a set from Dennis Carpenter (about $2600 total for both sides)...which looks really good as well. Now I just need to mount it. Just my 2 cents on my personal process. I saw that you're doing a resto job as well so I figured I'd let you know.
Did you use chrome polish? The only reason I ask is they are stainless steel and you can get a polishing kit for that from Eastwood.
I never knew that they had a coating on them. I watched a show on DIY network and they showed how to repair and polish stainless steel trim from a car.
