1. Ball caps worn backwards.
2. The use of the phrase "dead bodies". Has anyone here ever seen or heard of finding a "live body"?
3. Drivers using cell phones.
4. Drivers failing to use their turn signals.
5. Cashiers not counting my change back, just dumping into my hand.
One last pet peeve, which I have struggled to understand. This being media people with speech impediments, such as a slur or lisp. I suspect it is due to my having to take speech correction classes in grade school as I had trouble pronouncing hard consonants. If I have to speak clearly, EVERYONE has to!
da other day i sawed these dudes wakin' down da hall wiff der hats awl sidesways and i axed 'em hey wared u get does sick kickers...and did you see a woof, cuz mine taked off when we was gettin' brefast..
Is when I am in a restaurant (and not a fancy one at that) they ask "Do you want your change". If they ask, there isnt a chance in hell that they're gonna get a tip. Gratuity is earned, just like respect.
I was at an ABC Restaurant, my bill was $22.60 (or something). I dropped $40 on the table. I waited, and wait and wait for my change. When I finally saw my waitress again (almost 30 mins later). I asked her, where is my change. Her reply, Oh I thought you didn't want any change... She didn't like my response " if you assumed that $17 was a tip for lousy food, lousy service, in a 2 bit diner. You are sadly mistaken. and now I demand to see your manager." By this point I was rather annoyed...
I recanted to the Manager what had taken place, and the SOB had the nerve to tell me, if I wanted my change, I should have said so to the waitress. She was only doing her job...
I dont eat out often, but I'll never eat at another ABC restaurant, and I sent a very blunt letter to ABC head office, and told then what transpired, and that I'll let everyone know what kind of scam that they promote... They sent me an email coupon for 1 free meal. No apology, no reply of any kind. Just a generic email, with a free meal coupon....
Until the last few minutes, my pet peeve has been being unable to connect to this website. This has been going on for several weeks now. For some reason, my FireFox could not connect to this website's IP. Instead, it would show as a blank page with a "Done" at the bottom left hand corner.
Even now, when clicking on a thread, many times only the ads at the top of the page will load. I have to go back and forth several times to get it to work. Why in the world would only the ads load? This situation has existed ever since the "new and improved" version of this site. Quite peevish!
Yes, Bill, I have. Flushed, cleared, rebooted, log off/on. I also, for a while, was unable to start a thread. They were unable to figure it out, even though it started working. Also some of the ads have a faded/ink deficiancy (my term). This stuff has occurred ever since the change. On the plus side, the annoying, visually vibrating train horn ad is gone. Whew!
I've noticed that IE 6 does not work properly. It does not work properly where I am right now in the message box. The insert image button does not work, and the and insert link button does not work. Actually, as I test it here, none of the buttons work. It also does not format paragraphs correctly. My IE 7 installs work fine. I think they've lost some backward compatibility with the new upgrade. I'm not happy with it and don't see anything really gained from the new forum software. Just broken stuff that used to work.I would put an OFF TOPIC smilie here, if the danged things worked. And these are supposed to be separate paragraphs, but they all get merged. What sucks is, I don't see anybody at the top doing anything about it. I guess that will be a consideration when support comes due next time.Bill

If you stopped using that Security threat, called Internet Exploder, then things would work properly. FTE works best with Firefox, Safari, and Opera. Like most Microsoft products, IE is a security threat, there are more holes and flaws in that program, than there are in Windows Vista.

You mean Like "Amblance"(Ambulance) or "Chimley" (Chimney) ?
How about "chi pot al" sauce (Chipotle) aka: Chi Pot Lee

That's a pantload of crap. Is that really the best we can do when there is a problem? Blame IE. I can manage my security just fine thank you, and don't have to jump ship to do it. The simple fact is that we should not have to dump IE to make the forum work. The forum has to work with the most popular browser.
I have to get in on this one. I agree that prolly is right up there with the most annoying, but there are others.
I have seen the phrase "Use it or loose it", on a slide presented by a Phd. The fellow was a lab manager, not a tech weenie, so he had no excuse. Misusing loose for lose has become common, and, to me, it's the same as fingernails on a chalkboard.
The to, too, two abuse is another one that bothers me a lot.
However, I have to confess to being a dyslexic typist, and this has often rendered parts of my posts confusing at best. I always do a preview these days, and I think that I've gotten better.
Finally, a couple of other points. First, I doubt that the 'current generation' is inferior to any previous editions. However, times have changed. Spelling and grammer don't rank nearly as high in our current social structure. Some of you may remember the old 'Little Rascals' classics. There was almost always some spelling humor presented. This was typical of a lot of humor from that era. At that time spelling, grammer, and the good old Palmer penmanship were held in high regard. (I missed out on Palmer penmanship, my handwriting is terrible, and I don't care). This is no longer the case.
My last point is regarding skills in general. Spelling and grammer are often used as to judge a persons IQ. Well, they would be, the schools are ruled by academics. However, there are many who can fabricate, tune, or troubleshoot, but have trouble expressing themselves in words. These folks have skills representing other aspects of intelligence that shouldn't be slighted.
Well, whatever kept me from coming here....finally resolved itself on its own. Another person posted in the Tech Support Guy forums saying he could not access the site. Kept getting "Network DNS server failure" message as he was using Comcast. Eventually, the problem was resolved.
But I was beginning to think it there was something wrong with my WildBlue satellite connection but even my dialup was not connecting to it. It is a totally different provider and one I have been using for the past nine years for the business/personal use. Could always enter the site in the past.
I have been using FireFox since last November with my new computer. Largely because I gotten used to using the browser as this was what my son installed in the one he lent me (until my new one came in). Used IE 6 in my crashed computer to access the site with before that. That computer "died" due to a motherboard problem...not because of IE though.
Pet peeve. You go up to a grocery store, find an item on sale. It is scan by the clerk and their computer was not updated with the new information. So you are charged the higher price unless you point out it was on sale. The everyone has to wait until the clerk makes the change or finds someone to check your story out.....
Another one, you put in your debit card in their scanner....and it takes several tries before it works.

I'm a service technician with more than 25 years if technical background. IE is the biggest Security threat online. There are more holes and problems with IE alone. Google it, and the reality of the problems with IE will become evident. I haven't used IE in over 10 years, and dont plan on using it ever again.
You can manage your security all you like. But there are holes in IE, ones you cannot plug.
