A special thanks

Well the X is gone… I have mixed feelings about it… I loved to drive it… it towed well but still needed a little help in the rear (RAS)…
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I put just over 22,000 miles on it and other than a know coolant problem it had when I bought it I have had no trouble with it…
<o></o>
Maybe I have over analyzed it, but decided the projected cost of operating it to be to high over the next few years…
<o></o>
Gas had nothing to do with it… I was satisfied with the fuel mileage and was only slightly higher than I will use anyway…
<o></o>
As it is very near 100,000 miles I believe I would be facing some major expenses and since I didn’t’ buy it new I have to make some assumptions, even though I believe the former owner was honest and took very good care of it and gave me complete maintenance records…
<o></o>
In the near future it would need new tires, new shocks, and the RAS… in the not to distant future I think an overhaul of the front end would be required… even farther out I assumed the transmission may need rebuilt…
<o></o>
While parts are high for all trucks it seems ford parts are a little more than others, although that may just be perception… since I can no longer do a lot of the work like I used to it seems the labor charges on the X are premium prices also…
<o></o>
So I decided while it had no problems whatsoever and the selling price for them is falling like a rock it was the right time to make a final decision on weather to keep it or sell it…
<o></o>
Selling was a hard decision to make but easy to accomplish since one of the garages that had done some work on it for me just prior to buying it wanted it and said if I didn’t buy it he would for his daughter…
When he was test driving it he picked her up and she fell in love with it…
<o></o>
I called him just before I left FL and he said he wanted it and was ready to deal as soon as I got back…
<o></o>
When I got back he upped his offer and I couldn’t refuse or justify keeping it…
<o></o>
I talked to him today and his is very happy and I still have mixed feelings, but its time to move on and get the old van back on the road…
<o></o>
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all on the forum that has helped me out over the short time I have owned it… you are a great bunch…
Thank you…

Jack,

I'm sorry to see this...

I know I will still chat with you over on RV.net...but sad that you are an ex-Ex owner!

I would hope that you still come to Gatlinburg to say hey!...you are more than welcome to join us.

Keep in touch!

Joe.

JJ, sorry to see you decided to sell the Ex. I can understand your reasons, but for me, knowing I was going into this as a long term deal (you can pry my Ex from my cold, dead grip!), spending the cash on some of this stuff is natural for me...because I can't help but mod the vehicles I own!

I don't go to RV.net anymore, but I'm sure I will at some point in the future.

I'll be sure to say hi when I do!

Stewart

thanks Stewart... i took my pension at age 49, and am trying to make sure that is for the long haul... so sometimes what i want is trumped by what i need...

as far a money i didn' lose a dime on the X and was lucky enough to use it for all those miles free... so it was still a winning buy... they are a great truck for sure and even though i didn't have it a full year i will miss it...

i just hope my plan to keep the van running good for another 100k becomes a reality...
i will soon be looking for another van on a one ton platform to replace this one... its old but runs unbelieveably good yet...
you know its people willing to help people, like you guys that help make each day better, and i have been blessed with many good days... Thanks...

maybe thisn't permited but this is my old new ride... some of you ford guys may want to get the kids out of the room before looking...
