Is there any reason why I should not adjust 428 Adjustable Rockers the same as I would other engines with adjustable rockers and hydraulic lifters ? ...

I am in the process of installing a New Cam & Lifters with Like-New 428 Adjustable Rockers and Pushrods ...

In the past, I have adjusted FE Rockers by backing off until the lifter fully pumps up and "ticks", then tighten until there is Zero clearance, plus 1/4 - 1/2 turn (the same method used on Chevy V8's) ...

 

Depends on the thread-pitch of the adjuster, and how much preload the lifter should have

Sounds pretty close to me. As long as they aren't ticking then they are preloaded. As long as they aren't bottomed out then you're okay too.

I'd say go with it.

 

Thanks for the info ..... Just returned from another run to Las Vegas and more Hot Rod work with my Son .... I will install the new cam, lifters, rockers and pushrods this week in my 410 and hope to have it purring like a kitten again soon ...
