Staying under 1800rpm is so boring I can't stand it. If I wanted to drive like a limousine driver with a bucket of water on my lap I would drive something else.
Jason, I agree with this, but it is something I have to do nowadays. I've been there and done that. I once drove from Las Vegas to the California border in 20 minutes. I had a brand new Corvette at the time. Had to maintain speeds of 150 mph to do it, let me tell you,THAT IS NOT BORING!! I was just saying that if you want to push 80 mph today in a 6000 pound truck you're going to pay for it, so why complain?
Hey Mark,
have your MPG's gotten better than the last fill up?
if i recall you had stated that you unplugged the fuel heater and changed your fuel filter, any other changes??? do you keep your truck under 1800rpm even in the city?
300 miles=23 gallons (13 MPG's) roughly
Them 35's M/T don't help me none!
Boost seems a tad high at 70, though. Mine sits around 3-4ish at 70 normally. The only time it's above 5 is if I'm going up a hill or overpass.
I get 15-16 not being nice normally, but I'm about to fill up again and I should be around 480 miles on ~29 gallons (16.55 mpg). This is after I got my tranny done and new tunes from Tony Wildman. I seem to be getting a hair better mileage now!!
I know it's probably bad Netiquette to quote yourself, but I figured I'd post real numbers since I just got home and filled up before I got here...
470 miles on 28.5 gallons = 16.49 MPG.
And I paid 3.91/gal and had to swipe the card twice since it was over $100. That to me is the insulting part -- not only are they raping us, but then they cut the pumps off at $100. They know full well that 3/4 ton+ trucks take more than that...
I think all us diesel guys should do 5 *under* the speed limits to join some of the truckers that are protesting these absolutely stupid prices. I generally run 65 or so on the George Bush Tpke which is 5 over, but it really seems like 10 under. Seems that a lot of folks like doing 75-80 on that road.
Just trying to see if the truck is running about right. I am getting crap for fuel millage (13mpg) and just checking everything to make sure it is up to par. Anyways on the highway with the cruise set at 70mph I'm at 2000 rpm 6lb of boost and 625-650 on the pyro. Does this sound about right? 3.73 rear end everything else is in my sig I think.
I am averaging ~ 15 mpg right now. I took it for a cruise to Santa Barbara recently to visit my daughter. That's about 150 miles one-way, and most of it freeway. I put 440 miles on it that weekend. A lot of around town driving, up Hwy 154 to the Chumash Casino for dinner (a nice hilly venture), and I hand calculated 17.11 mpg.
I drove in this morning, and the numbers I got with cruise set @ 75 were:
RPM: 2200; EGT: 600-625; Boost: 4-6.
Don't know how the speed difference skews the numbers, or if it does. Pulling up the grade on the 210 past Eagle Rock, boost was ~ 8-10, and the pyro was reading 700-750.

I've not checked since that amazing 22 mpg city driving, but I did double check that and could only cram another qt. in the next morning and most of that spilled. I have my fingers crossed for a DP in the near future and will be driving down there. That will be a good hwy test as it almost a straight shot all I-85. Don't really pay any attention to the rpm's around town, but do know I use the loud pedal more than I should just cuz I like the noise. No other changes.

My numbers are identical to these. At 70 MPH my Pyro reads 650-700 on flat ground.
PS: There was no speed limit in Nevada at the time, and no, I probably did not even have my seatbelt on.
That's a wicked good run!!! My two best runs were
1. SW Baltimore to Kentucky - 600 miles (plus a bit) in 6hrs flat (1997 Subaru Outback)
2. Catonsville, MD to Tyson's Corner, VA - 28 minutes (if you've ever driven down I-95 and around DC to VA, well....you know) 1996 CBR600F3
My personal top speed so far as 164mph - 2001 CBR929RR Erion Edition
Never will I touch any of those in Nyx, but I'm looking at another bike and want to make a run at 200mph on the salt...
