gotchya Short of redoing the whole underbody with paint and smoothing everything up, I don't know if there's much you can really do about it. You might be able to seal up the engine bay to keep it clean(er) though.

to help get some of the stuff off the bottom I put my sprinkler under there and walk away. Let it work for a while, and some of the hard work is done for you

And I have gotten letters twice from my HOA for having too much mud in the street where my truck sits...

That sucks, but funny (b/c it's not me).

The owners of the car washes get pissed off when a group of us go mud riding, b/c we usually all go to the same one and drink some more while waiting for one of the four stalls to clear up, and buy the time we're done, all 4 stalls are covered in mud and the drains are clogged.

I never sprayed oil, but I want to do it next time I go.
I would just put some vegetable oil in a squirt bottle and spray the wheel wells and inner fenders. That couldn't take long.

Also, never wait until it drys. IF it does, then the sprinkler thing usually helps to get things loosed up and a good high pressure wash should take most of it off.... it'll still take a hour + to get everything.

Just part of it.
I try not to get the thought in my head that I hate it, b/c then I might not want to go in the mud. God forbid something offal like that would happen.

By the way, I like how there's a Spell Check now!

The only way you could get me to put oil on the belly of my truck would be the Oil Gernade, but that's mostly just becuase it would be cool. car washes around here dont like it when you wash your truck off after muddin neither, so i just go home and use the pressure washer.

after thinking about the coolest way to do a cheep oil gernade heres my idea. fill a water balloon with oil, whatever kind you prefer. then modifiy the filler to hook to an air compressor. tie the water balloon to the fitting so it doesnt pop off. hook the airline to the compressor with a hand valve out from under the truck prob 5 feet or so back. place oil balloon in bowl, so it splashes up and not all over the ground. slide bowl under truck with broom or stick whatever you have laying around. then open valve and wait until it explodes. should only take 3 or 4 balloons and you never had to crawl under your truck.

Put some in a spray bottle, lean against the tire and spray in the wheel wells, inside the fenders and bumper, and go tear it up.

I'm all for simplicity.

I'm sure that way would work, but it'd be a mess and more trouble and time to get things set up than it would be worth.
Just my 1/2 cent.

Never had mud actually pack on to the frame or gase tank more than a 1/2 inch or so.

In the nooks and crannys (sp?) like fenders and the bumper it gets pretty thick, and unless you clean it right after(still wet) then you've got a mess on your hands.....unless it fell off already because of the oil sprayed on previously...

if your making a big plan about it, y not just get the ballon on oil, put it in a bowl, then jsut shoot it with a slingshot or something like that, could have fun and make things easier all at the same time!
