does anyone have any new ideas on this .I have done every thing except pull the whole thing out & bench bleed it. Tried driving it, bench bleed it , parked on a hill 4 a month , the carolina clutch system . I've got it jacked up in the shop now & am going to bleed it that way tonight. This started with replacing the slave .Any one know of a source 4 the rubber seal 4 the ends of the hose. thanks, Al
Try taking a stick to push the clutch pedal down with. When all the way down, slide the stick off the pedal and let the pedal fly all the way back up. This might have to be done many times. Sounds stupid but it was the only way we could get all the air out of the system on my ranger. Good luck.
Yes I have a little pedal ,but not enough to get it in gear. I have done the driving around thing before & it worked it self out . That time I was able to pump it up enough to shift. This has me stumped. Al
That was my thinking on it. .Don't believe it, made it worse than before.I think I'll put the old one back on ,...it was only the "o" ring that was bad...see what happens .Last resort " explosives ''.......Thanks Al
yes filled it hooked up, purged it ,IT moves about an 1 1/4'' not enough.I'm wondering about the master cy now .I can't get it to even pump up at all & the fluid level doesn't drop at all hardly maybe a cen. But usually when the master goes it really goes.Hate to buy a new one if I don't need to any help , this is getting fustrating ... AL
How are you bleeding this? DON'T pump the pedal. It will foam it up and you will be forever. Every time I have bled one of these systems I just push the pedal down and hold it for a second and then do it again. It has taken awhile sometimes but I haven't ever had one not get right.
That didn't do much ,might try that some more .I'm wandering ...when you work the slave by hand it takes all the fluid in the reservoir and then some .... seems like you should see the fluid drop an inch maybe ? How much does yours drop....... ? Al
I have never really looked. I could figure it out if I cut open a slave cylinder a figure it's bore.
I ran into a master cylinder that I fought with that took several strokes to get right. I probably pumped the pedal for 45 minutes. It finally got happy.
What started the whole mess to begin with? Did the problem just show up?
I mean in the reservoir .. I was just putting a new slave. Never had this much trouble before .I wander if I'm missing something simple ....If i get this sorted out I'll sure post on it......Al
I know you meant in the res. on the master cylinder. What I was saying is that you would figure the area in the slave cylinder and subtract that from the res. Then you know how much it took to stroke the slave cyl and how far down the res. level would go.
You may have to replace the master cylinder. While you were trying to bleed the system the master cylinder may have bit the dust. I have stranger things happen. Good luck with it. It can be frustrating.
