Thumbs up "Pay It Forward"

Just three words, and if you saw the movie you know what I mean. "Pay It Forward".

for those of you guys that didnt get the search comment... threads on the 6637 and tymar go back to at least 2002... they were doing it on the 94.5-97 trucks, before they split the forums up into different classes of diesel, it was just powerstroke diesels

anyway, I chose this particular one.... now called the Kwik filter

now Kwik is a good guy and has earned his place as a pillar in the diesel community, he has well earned his reputation for the many, many posts, help, and explanations he has given over the years... but the filter was developed by the oldtimers and later a guy named Dale started marketing the TYMAR "package" with custom clamps to clean it up and make it better.

this was just before the time I joined FTE (June '04)and Kwik joined like a couple days before me... we were both powerstroke dumb back then, but kwik did have alot of auto diesel knowledge that he's put to the test in our trucks.....

The deal that gets me is the guys you see with 10 little green boxes next to their name and when you check their posts nearly all of them are in General Discussion talking about scrapbooking and gardening and the best way to install carpet and on and on. No truck talk. No advice on mods or repairs of TRUCKS but plenty of advice on where to get the best page seperators for scrapbooks or grub worm killer for your garden.

If those guys have eight green boxes then the guys that talk diesel truck mods and repairs deserve twenty.

Ok, off my soap box now.

If you search a bit more, you will find several post where Dan (Kwik) said himself that is was not his design and gives credit to the other guy and that is why I no longer call it the Kwik filter. I have been here for a while myself and never heard Dan take credit for coming up with it. Just bringing it here. He didn't call it the Kwik Mod, we did.

This is like the old argument of what came first.....the chicken or the egg. In the end.....it doesn't really matter, Chicken is DELICIOUS And I don't think any of the mods have an "official" name on here.....if you walked into Napa and asked them for the Kwik filter they wouldn't have any clue what you were talking about

I got the idea from dfuser and by the time I done the mod forgot who gave it to me and didn't know it had a name,so as kind of a joke I called it DooDad but didn't feel right and searched and found the correct name and included it
If it offends anyone I apolagise and will remove it

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I haven't been around here as long as most of the guys and gals on this forum but reps to me are a humbling thing. It lets me know that when I recieve a rep from someone it shows that they appreciated my advice or opinion or whatever was said. I agree that it is frustrating when you can't give reps to someone that deserves it because you gave them reps the day before or whenever, but I think that in the end if they really deserve it then they will get it.

Ray, I think what you have done(giving credit where credit is due) is the right thing and no one should be offended by that. Just my $.02.
