We (Customs and Border Protection, CBP) were recently given guide lines on purchasing Mexican diesel due to the rise in fuel costs. There is actually a 99 gallon limit when crossing back into the US. Anything over that gets charged a "User Fee" of $10.75. If you have a Transferflow or other auxilary tank but did not surpase the 99 gallon threshhold, it is still up to you to prove it (like a reciept). Making two seperate purchases and showing one is risky as you could be fined up to $5000 on the spot. However, we have up to 2 hour wait times daily in southwest AZ, and with the summer coming up, 120 degree temps aren't out of the question either. I guess if you want to spend the time in line then another 30 minutes to an hour paying the User Fee (if need be) all while roasting in the sun, its worth the $2/gallon savings. Don't forget you will need Mexican auto insurance or you COULD be denied entry into Mexico by the Aduana (Mexican Customs). Its cheap and available through AAA.
Because they can drill anywhere they want to. They do not have all the environmentalist telling them where to drill or not to drill. It is not Ok for us to drill offshore, but it is Ok for them. Can’t get it.
What The H%$# we are paying 4 plus a gallon. Goes to show you we are being R@#$% by Big oil and Goverment here. It just tees me off every time i fuel.
Last time I check price depends on supply and demand. So the question is, how does your government making more world’s demand on fuel? The only answer to that, that I can see is, they do not let build more refineries, and drill more of domestic oil. Also, if they had friendlier laws about nuclear energy, then we would probably be in a little better shape. It is only my opinion, so take it for whatever it worth. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o>As far as big oil goes, they would sell for the price they can get, don’t you think? If you are willing to pay over $4 per gallon, they will sell it to you for that price, if you stop buying it, they may offer cheaper price, or just sell it to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1lace>China</st1lace></st1:country-region>, because they need it and they are willing to pay the price.<o></o>

Also, if you go be sure to use the correct pump! I had a guy in line in a PSD Excursion telling me he just grabbed the green handle pump and started filling away. About 20 gallons later someone told him he was pumping gas and not diesel. He said it cost him about $200US to drop the tank and dispose of the mixed fuel. Good thing he was notified before starting up the truck. I guess Mexico doesn't have the same standard markings as the US.
Even though US has it all marked, I towed the guy’s truck once for doing it as well. He just topped it off, as he had some diesel in the tank. He did make it home OK, but truck had no power (he lived close to the gas station) and then I towed his truck from home to the dealer to drain it. It happens to the best of us.
Another guy in a beautiful silver and charcoal '95 F350 SC 4X4 was being pulled home by his wife in a newer Expedition. Said she left the kids in the truck with the a/c on while she was at the dentist. An hour and a half later the truck died when she pulled into traffic, ran out of fuel. Put 25 gallons of crap Mexican gasoline in the tank. He said she never made it out of the gas station. He was none too happy!
the whole supply and demand is a myth. news reports lately have confirmed that our gas reserves are at a 15 yr high. they say the speculist in the stock market are driving the price of oil because of a weak dollar??????????????? the dollar may not be so weak if the price of fuel wasn't so high. those dumb???es in dc are running around wondering why we arent spending our money, why housing is down and yet they say we are not heading toward a depression. duhhhhhhhhhhhh??? check this out, they regulate things that they say are necessities in order to keep them affordable, power, water, sewer, natural gas, electricity, if these are necessities and the gov can regulate them, why not fuel? since when isnt fuel a necessity for life nowadays? i dont see many horse and buggies on the highways. maybe thats the answer, they didnt like the truckers jamming up the freeways, how about a couple thousand horses on the morning commute. that will get some attention. the way i see it is those rich sobs dont care about the working man and the price of fuel doesnt bother them. maybe we should shut down the country. nobody go to work for a week. when the rich b******s cant get their houses cleaned or their meals cooked or anything else maybe that would make a diff. didnt mean to go on a rant. just my opinion. and ya know what they say about opinions and a**holes.

Wow, that’s some anger. I guess you are one of the people that like staying in line to get gas, aren’t you? I want government out of my life, period. I do not want them to regulate anything at all, other then reasonable laws to protect citizens of the country, but not everyday necessities such as gas, how big your toilet tank should be, what light bulbs not to use. I want market to regulate that, and by meaning market, I mean me, you and people that make the product. If government will get involved in regulating fuel prices, that fuel will be sold to the countries that pay more first, and if anything left, that will be sold in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1lace>US</st1lace></st1:country-region>. That would help our economy…! I wasn’t old enough to remember, but people are saying that government tried something like that in the past, and people like you and me had to stay in line for hours, could buy it only on certain days and so on. If you like that, then you should try country I came from, <st1lace>Soviet Union</st1lace>. Government was involved in everyday’s life of the people and US is heading down same way. As far as gas reserve, last time I checked, it was crude oil reserve that still needs to be refined, and we do not have enough refineries to even refine enough gas to supply our own country. More then that, you should probably check in to how much oil that is, what it is normally used for and how long will it last if all oil supply would be cut off to this grate oil dependant country. As far as not going to work, I think that was tried by somebody in the very resent years, and I am not sure that it worked. The only people that will get hurt, will be you and me, those that have money, they don’t even have to be in the <st1:country-region><st1lace>US</st1lace></st1:country-region> at that time, but you and me will have to.
first of all yeah im mad as hell. and everybody needs to be. what i said about gas reserves i did not say as stone cold facts, i said according to news reports, if the news reports are wrong im sorry for using their stats. as for goverment controlling gas, when i turned on my water this morning it came out just fine, light switch, telephone, they all worked just fine too, so what does government regulating price have to do with anything. i didnt say gov get into business of selling gas. all of our other utilities are privately owned, goverment regulated and they work just fine, why not gas. and if market control works so good at controlling price what do you think would happen to the price of your gov controled utilities?? the exact thing that is happening to gas, 300/mo water, 300/mo electricity, so on and so on. market is not controlling the price of gas!! i guess you think its ok for the oil companies to suppress new technology, to curtail the upgrading, expanding and building new refineries AND making record profits off of me and you!!???? and if you think that info is not factual then pull your head out of your *** and look around, its going on every day. dont throw up the problems that existed where you came from, cause u aint there no mo, and i am guessing that our gov must be better or you wouldnt be here. as long as greedy corporations exist and our allowed to charge what ever they like, market control WILL NOT WORK. everbody, including me, would like to live in the fantasy world you describe, but greed prevents that and gov must stay involved to protect the consumer. everybody knows that gov is to big and all f****d up, but its all we got for now. bottom line, im all for cheaper gas however that can be accomplished, whether market control or gov regulation, what diff does it make how it is accomplished???????

Aren’t the rest of things you wrote are fed to you from the same news outlet? Why don’t you check the facts before you bite the bait?

Last time I checked, government does not regulate prices on any of the above items, so check your facts again. Those are highly regulated items, but not prices.

I didn't think that you said that government should own any of it, because I have not seen any, may be just few, government owned programs that actually worked, and I worked for feds as a contractor before I went into my own business.

Market does work. And no, I do not think oil companies suppressing new technology, if you have facts, tell me, I may change my mind. As far as refinery, if my numbers are right, it has been a while when I looked in to it, but it cost approximately $6 billion, and with our unfriendly laws, no one wants to spend that much money just to hear that they may not operate it, more then that, it takes about 10 years to build it, so there is no quick fix.

Sorry, you angry enough not to reed what I wrote, but assumed what I wrote. All I said was that if you like government to control your life, you should live in Soviet Union, but all gas lines and prices that I talked about happened here, in the US, so I guess you do not even know your own history that happened in years of your parents (depends on how old you are). As far as government controlling size of the toilet tank, it is federal law, controlling what light bulbs you may not use, CA trying to pass the law on it, days when you can not burn your wood fireplace is our local, Sacramento County ordinance. I could probably find few more that you will like.

I am with you on the cheaper prices, but government involvement will not do it. If you have the product that many people would like to get it, who will you sell it to? My assumption is that you will sell it to the person that pays more, I know I would. So, if government will start controlling gas prices, lets say $2.00 per gallon, but China is willing to pay $4.00 per gallon, guess who will be driving cars and who will be riding horses on the freeway. My point is: who ever pays more, gets it, especially if the supply is limited. As far as those evil corporations, all screaming evil about them, but when one of those closes doors and thousands of people loosing jobs, all screaming NOT FAIR. Make up your minds, check the facts, and no, keep the government away from everyday's life of the people.
Sorry, I am bad with multiple quotes, but hope you could follow the conversation.
