Look at my signature for all my mods. My Edge was the last mod I got. It worked fine in level 2, but level 3 sent my engine into failsafe mode. I called Edge and they downloaded the info on my unit, did something and then had me do an update. Everything has been fine since. When I asked them what the problem was they told me my I had an issue that was common in the '07's. Evidently, my truck had a stock '07 tune rather than the expected '06 tune. Figures...I bought it new in March of '07 as a left over '06.
The guys at Edge were great. They worked the problem quickly and kept me in the loop the whole time.
I've been running my volant and edge and have had no issues. I run the edge with the stock cal for about 30 minutes and then reprogrammed to level 2. Currently, I'm running level 2 with revised shift points and added Wot1 fuel and have not had any issues with the canned programming.
Since the Edge is tuned for stock trucks, I would be very concerned about adding CAI to it. If the intake is really doing much, I would be very concerned about running lean. You can have a lean condition that is doing gradual damage and never get a code or hear a ping. If I wanted CAI, I would get a custom tune from Power Hungry Performance. Many 2004 trucks came from the factory running lean and just adding a CAI caused them to throw a code. Since I have an early 2005, I am probably overly concerned about the issue, but I would not take a chance. I will say too, that on another truck site, several guys had problems running lean when running an Edge with CAI. Troyer Performance once stated that after doing testing, the only CAI that was safe without custom tuning, was the 3" AF1. If it's safe, is it doing much?
