I just installed a comp solid roller cam in my 460. I was checking the thrust clearance with a dial gauge. I pushed the cam back as far as i could and zero'd my gauge and moved the cam as far foreward as i could. It moved .023, this is without the timing gear installed. Is this too far? I have a book that says under .005 is max.
I figured out my problem. I had only tapped that cam gear on with a soft hammer. Once I snugged down the bolt she came tight to the cam, now a perfect .005 whoops
