On the 95 f150 extended cab i am getting I want to get new shocks and tires. The shocks I am looking at are procomp es9000 shocks. When I had my bronco 2 people said these were good shocks any one got any thoughts or suggestions on these? Also I am looking for ideas on tires. I am going to try and use this truck for work and some play. I was thinking maybe a set cooper discover ats in the size of 30s they would be a little bigger than stock. Anyone with thoughts on this are welcome to chime in as well.
the procomps would be a good choice for what your doin----but i would go with a set of mud terrains instead of the at's----they wont wear that much worse and you will get alot more "bite" off-road and they are in the same price range
i think that would be a 265/75 ----but im not positive
if ya look thru the threads theres all kinds of info pertaining to this---plus tire rack might have a conversion chart
Your 235X75X15 actually calculates out to be 28.88 " in diameter. 235 is the width of the tire in MM at its widest point, not necessarily the tread, usually its the belly of the tire. Divide that by 25.4 for the conversion to inches. . The 75 is actually the "ratio" or "percentage" of the tires width to its sidewall height. The 15 is the rim diameter. By my calculations, your 235's look like this--
235 div by 25.4 = 9.25
9.25 X .75 = 6.94
6.94 X 2 = 13.88
13.88 + 15 = 28.88" diameter.
I have run 30X9:50X15, 31X10:50X15 and now 32X11:50X15 on my Bronco. All of these tires have been ~ 1" less in diameter than the 1st number on the size indicates. In fact, after measuring numerous (Bridgestone, Michelin) tires, even the metric tires are never quite as much diameter as advertised. I have measured 235X60X16 Bridgestones and 225X60X16 michelin tires and that is the case. I even did a driveway measurement test on my 32X11:50X15 Bridgestone Dueler APT's and they are only about 31 " in diameter.
I have gotten some "tense" contradictions to my findings, so i am NOT going to say this applies to all brands or tires. I will say that I "aint" one to throw out a bunch of numbers without checking
thanks for clearing that up. I just want to make the 30x9.5s will look bigger giving the truck a more truck look. IMO the 235s on there now look puny for the truck.
30x9.5x15 tires should look good. You could go 31x10.50x15 if you want. Thats a good size. As for ProComp shocks, they suck. Get some Rancho 5000 shocks. If nothing else just get some Monroe shocks.
265X75X15 was the OEM on my 93 bronco FS. By the numbers that is supposed to be 30.65 " tall. 31's were a "fatter" looking tire. 32's look about right in the opening. If you have a bronco II then a 30 or 31 might be the best, depending on what will fit.
I need to do something about my shocks, so I am watching your replys on the shock thing. I have the quad shocks up front, and I dont need them. I am thinking about deleting one on each side for better ride quality.
