Talking Which shocks?

Ok, I guess I am going to replace my shocks on my 95 Bronco. I am wanting shocks that will give as smooth as possible ride. Any suggestions on which shocks to buy?

Bilstein shocks are very popular and I've only heard people say good things about them and they are recommended a majority of the time. I've never personally used them though so i can't give my personal experience with them.

Anyone have experience with KYB Monomax shocks?? www.kybshocksonline.com. I am looking for a smooth ride on the street, don't do very much off roading anymore. These appear to be a self adjusting design

Some people think monroe sensa tracs are fine and then many say they suck but I would stay away from them anyhow. Spend a bit more money and research more so you get the right shock the first time.

We have had two sets of Bilsteins break at the stud. Bilstein refused to warranty either, claimed we abused them???? Won't happen to me again! On the F-150 4X4 we went to ProComps, on the Bronco we went to Monroe Magnum Gas. Both work excellent. There have been several threads on this problem on other websites.

Remember most products regardless of the quality will have good and bad reviews but its more of a matter of HOW many times your seeing that they fail or are of poor quality so I wouldn't base my shock purchase just cause one person says they had trouble with it. You will see goods and bads for almost all the shocks people bring up including ranchos, monroes, edelbrocks, and many other brands.

Oh and I'm not defending bilstein shocks or any others but just shooting out some ideas and what ive heard.

TigerHawk, just to reinforce the Bilstein issue. I would be happy to post a picture of the broken shock. As you said goods and bads can happen with any of them, my point was how they (Bilstein) handled it. The very first statement was "you must have abused the product". Without knowing the type of use or anything. I ate over $400 worth of shocks, the bad went far beyond the product!

I understand, I would be pissed off too if they told me that and I did not abuse the shocks, but I would think its strange for any shock regardless of how cheap or expensive it was to break at the studs, and even more for it to happen twice for you under the circumstances that they were not severely abused. If a shock breaks that much than it is not safe for a vehicle.
