AIS vs AFE 6637

I have an AIS severe duty air filter in my 00 250 PS. Getting close to needing a new filter. Last time I looked the cost of the filter is around $75. Is the AFE 6637 available? If so, would this be a good time to switch or should I stay with the AIS?

Thanks, Chad

If you want the best filtration, buy another AIS filter...the 6637 is available from many sources and is a very good filter but a number of members with 6637 have switched to AIS because of drone. I live in a real dry area with a lot of dust...I wouldn't even consider less than the AIS (first thing I did to my truck was purchase the AIS).

I switched from the 6637 to the AIS because of the drone. I can still hear the WW spool up just fine.
See you tomorrow Neal.

Neal's right about the drone on the 6637. I had to build a box around mine to get rid of drone. The AFE is a different filter system. The 6637 is just the poor mans copy of the AFE filter.

If you're worried about cost, your AIS filter would be cheaper than switching to the AFE. The 6637 may or may not drive you crazy.

AFE is making a 6637 size filter now that they are actually producing for a different company (Airflow, or something like that). Brandon (bdrummonds) got one and it has even more airflow capacity than the 6637, but it runs near $100. It is oilable, reusable, and is made of the Proguard 5 construction format (5-layer gauze).

Here is the link to his thread on this new element, and somehwere in teh thread is the part number and ordering details.
