Be careful about taking recommendations from other owners, every truck is different. You need to experiment to find your sweet spot.
For instance, I am still running the stock 265/70-17 BFGs on my truck, 75 PSI recommended all around. If I lower the pressure to 65 PSI I start to see steering wheel oscillation/wobble after hitting a bump. Lowering the pressure to 60 PSI makes the wobble worse. 70 PSI gives me a decent ride.
Ford does not recommend running anything other than what the door sticker recommends, depsite what others might tell you. In fact, if you take the truck into a Ford dealer to have the "death wobble" problem fixed, the first thing the technician will do is check your tire pressure and inflate to door sticker pressure, per the Ford TSB.
-------if yer tires have a MAX rating of 80--and you run 80, you are NOT running overinflated!!
He's talking about over and under inflation based on the weight of the truck, not exceeding the MAX PRESSURE recommendation on the sidewall.
It all depends on how much weight the tire is supporting. If you run the tire overinflated, the center will have contact with the asphalt, the sides will not. If underinflated, the sides will contact the asphalt, the center will not. If inflation is correct you get the maximum contact patch.
One thing to keep in mind, the pressure for a correct contact patch is a range, not a specific number.
