5er needed new tires had E loads on it local firestone claimed they couldnt get E load in 15" anymore so we put on D's tire pressure on side wall states max 65 psi cold less than 300 miles later blown tire.
I return the tire and they asked what psi i was running i stated 60 they stated oh god you cant run more than 50 in those tires quite frankly i think they have lost there mind and that the tire was faulty and if you only put in 50 psi there squatting pretty good.
so now that im off my soap box lol what would be the proper tire psi on a tire rated for 65psi cold? Thanks in advance for any input.
....but they DID replace the tire at no charge, right? You showed where the sidewall said 65? They are FOS if they say what THEY say overrides the statement on the sidewall. If that really IS the case they are out of FEDERAL compliance.
Proper tire pressure is dictated by the vehicle and conditions. If you don't have that info, you can look it up using what weight the tire is expected to carry. But if the sidewall said max 65psi cold and you were running 60psi cold, you did not overpressure your tires.
Now, you could have an alignment issue. Did the blown tire replace one that was worn unevenly or worse than the others?
BPofMD, oh no it was pro rated out cost me $30 dollars after they sent it in for inspection, pretty much determined that i am done with my local firestone
thomabb, when i pulled the old tires they were even ill google it and see what i come up with
Maxxis have some of the best 15" tires in an Radial ST line. Over on the RV boards te Maxxis is highly rated if you need 15's or cannot afford the 16" upgrade wheels and LT tires.
yah i run E load on the stock trailer and car trailer i should have shopped around but had used this shop many times prior without a problem and i was in hurry as we made a last min. decision to takea vacation so live and learn i do appreciate all your input especially concerning the proper psi i always thought that the max was stamped on the sidewall for a reason but who knew lol thanks again guys i will be installing E loads from now on

Ditto. Nothing wrong with 60psi in a 65psi tire. All day all night should be fine.
OTOH D range is too low if that's what originally came on the trailer, like others have said. Go back to E, run 80psi (max) on those trailer tires.
I've read good things about Maxxis, if I didn't run LTs I'd think about those.
