Well, today i did it. I finally ordered the wicked wheel. I was going to go with the ats housing but got to many other manditory things to get(tires- windshield). It was a good price for what i,m looking for getting rid of the surge. When i get on her wot in 4th you can here the surge. I'll be pulling my 15,000 pound travel trailer this year and i don't want to damage the turbo. Thanks to everybody for you guidance on this mod. I hope this helps.
well it technicallly doesn't eliminate all of it, i think it just moves the choke point (or something technical sounding like that when i'm pulling heavy with my truck i still get some, but i'd say it took care of about 90 percent of it. now i've been told the ats housing, and/or the 1.00 a/r exhaust housing would totally eliminate it. but i'm waiting on funds, then i'm doing both turbine, and compressor housings.
It shifts the Surge Line up so you're much less likely to get it. It has to do with turbo mapping, drive pressures, etc, etc. In my case, it got rid of the surge I had at the high end of the boost curve, and it gave me a very cool whistle to boot. When I take folks for rides in my truck for the first time, the whistle always seems to get a comment out of them.

Where did you order your ww from? I'm contemplating doing one.
When pulling up a hill I used to get with the 6637 filter a sound (which I would call a clicking noise) when the truck lugged down a little. Fixed all leaks but didn't solve the problem. Switched to AIS severe filter and don't hear the sound anymore. I assume the filter change didn't solve anything but AIS may not be letting in as much air. Is the surge referenced above the same thing I was hearing and would a WW help my situation? I have 4" exhaust with DP tuner on 00 250 PS.

I got it at extreme diesel, they have free shipping over 50.00 bucks, you can't beat that. Total order was 61.00. I should get it wed hopefully. But i'll tell you what, i,m alittle paranoid about doing it myself. It does look strait forward though. I,ve been looking foward to the whistle too.

Reason: whistle
yea takin out the turbo is a breeze not a problem at all. youll love the whistle that it has..but i need more whistle so thats why im going to buy the ATS housing.. anyone have one that they are looking to get rid of???
Can i just take off the stock housing instead of ripping the turbo out, that seems to be the easy thing to do. I just checked in search and seen video of a fellow doing just that.I don't have any turbo related leaks anywhere. What do you think.
I got mine installed this weekend at Smokin, it was a pretty straight forward process we took our time and we looking for some oil leaks that I had. We did it with the turbo on and it wasn't that bad, the last bolt down near the bottom was the worst part. I really enjoy the whisle from it now .
It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! I enjoyed it last year but knowing Brandon, Kris, Mike, Chris, Jeremy, Jason, Scott, and Jamie, we had a ball at the slumlords camp LOL. Its hard to explain it you just have to be there Bob.
