I'd be careful with heat around the steering box......and definitely don't want to go nuts with a BFH on the pitman arm/sector shaft either.
Before you do the lift, you may want to spray all the bolts you're going to remove with PB Blaster to help make it easier.
He raises a good point about what I stated. I should have been more specific.
Be very carful what your heating and only heat the pitman arm. And when using the BFH, it is not used to solely break loose the pitman arm, it is to aid the puller and push it off. Also be careful here to only hit the pitman arm and dont smack it like your the hulk
BTW, if it were me, I would remove the bumper. I realize you said you have lighths to worry about, but it makes it that much easier IMO
So when you pull the front bumper.. are those spring bolts staring you in the face ??? If so I might have to,.... I think there are pretty tough to get at otherwise !!
When I put my lift on, I tried to do it with the bumper on but eventually took it off. So i second taking it off. I also had to remove the lower corner bracket on one of the coolers so I could remove a bolt from the front left spring. That added a little time but it was not hard to do. I just moved it enough to get the bolt out and then back in.
Another suggestion is to use a propane torch on the spring bolts to loosen the lock tight that is on them. At least mine had some blue lock tight on them.

Yes.
I should have taken a picture since I just had the bumper off of my 01 for a week.
And that is a good tip about using a little heat on bolts to loosen up the factory loctite.
Well guys... I got the rear end done !! It took me quite a while today to get it done... I had no helper and those bloody springs are heavy to throw around by yourself... It was hard getting the bolts in while I tried to position the spring... Anyways.. I'm tackling the front tomorrow ! Also... I forgot to take my camera to the shop, so I'm lacking pics ! The old springs were broken, but all bolts came off no problem !
If anyone is doing this Job in the near future...... HAVE A HELPER !!! I'm sore tonight from wrenching ! I'll try to post pics tomorrow night after its all done...
