Probably nothing but I thought I'd see. Just finished installing the chip. Left her in pos 1 (stock) and drove past the two Sheriffs down the street. Pulled over, threw it in 120.....didn't really get on it, but it felt really nice. Pulled over again and threw her in 80 econ. Ran great, still fun playing with the throttle a bit. Got home and decided I should put it back in pos 1 for the morning so I let her warm up before playing again and I get the SES light. SES goes out when I change to any other tune but comes back on as soon as I hit stock tune again. I do not have the overboost thingy installed. Do the other tunes ignore the overboost code and kill the SES? Thanks!!!!
No....nothing ignores the SES. I'd pull the chip back out and double check the cleanliness of the contacts on the PCM board. Poor chip contact is easily the #1 cause of chip malfunctions.

this interests me. When I romp on it in a tune other than stock tune, and I put it back over to stock tune the SES comes on. I have OBA so I figured that'd stop the overboost, I also tried to get to the auto store to get the code read but the code disappeared by the time we got to the truck. Any ideas on what it could be? Sorry to hijack your thread bud.
No problem, the sooner you get yours figured out the sooner mine is fixed also. The two sound like similar problems to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the auto stores don't have scanners that will read our trucks. They're fancy! Why else would the shop down the street want $100 for something Autozoo will do for free? Do I smell a scam!?

I am very confident in my contact cleaning. In fact, if I were to clean any more I think I may have the "too much copper" problem described in the install manual. SES is like clockwork to the change of the tune. If I had a bad seat or dirty contacts don't you think I would have seen the light from the get as the user/install manual states? It only came on after having run the truck in a tune other than stock, then returning to the stock tune.

Back in the day...the chip programmers recommended that we not switch the program back to stock with the engine running....which is a habit I adopted and adhere to still. When you start the truck in the stock setting is the SES light on, or is it only when you reset to stock on the fly?
When I re-start, there is no SES light. It is only when switching back to stock still running as you said. I left it in econ last night so I guess I can go see what it does if I switch it back without starting. Should I be starting and warming up in stock EVERY morning?

Jody is at smokin' until the 18th. Was hoping someone had the same problem and squashed it with the OAD. I switched back to stock on the fly today and did not get an SES light. Finicky old man I guess.
Now I'm having a new problem. I turn the key, get no wts light, and ses light stays on. Happens for about 5 cycles in a row, then starts up fine. I'm going out to pull the tuner and re-clean the contacts as that's the only thing I can think of. No problems for two days, now this.
