Is it worth it?

I've been looking for another OBS powerstroke for awhile now. I found a 96 F250, 4x4, 5sp, extended cab long bed. It has 189000 miles on it. I noticed the passenger side fender has been replaced, and there is some rust starting above the driver side rear wheel. Other than that the truck is in really good shape, everything works, and it has a new clutch and the down pipe has been changed.
He priced me this truck at 7,900. I'm gonna keep this truck all weekend and try it out. Do you guys think $7,900. is a pretty good buy?
Thanks

Nope too much money. The start of rust at the rear wheel is a rust whole and the only thing holding it is the paint. The other side is probably not far behind as well as the cab corners. at 7K it might be about right but would pay more than that for it.

Ya, X2...
As for the fender that's been replaced, pop the hood, look for cracks, crinkles, rips in the sheet metal. If that wasnt fixed with it, it was a cheap mechanic. then take a look for frame damage.
All of those come into play when you go to align things. could make for hard steering, uneven/excessive tire wear.. etc. seems to age the truck faster.

Ya, that one is ridiculous! I bought mine For $8K, But it's absolutely MINT!, only one dent, one scratch, and he took $500 off asking for that. New tranny 35k miles ago, new water pump every 100k miles, every wear and tear part carefully watched over...
It was like getting a new truck.
But if it was in a crash, forget it for that price! i would consider $7k, but prolly talk him down. Ask for maitenance records if he has them, that's the sign of a well kept truck!

if the interior was in perfect or close to condition and there were no dents/frame damage it would be worth it. i paid 7300 for mine with 189000 miles on it the interior is 99% perfect paint is in great shape, a couple paint bubble on the cab corners, and a kinda shotty bondo job where it looks like they blew a tire and fubar'd the bottom rear of the driver side rear quarter panel and was repaired but not perfectly wheel arches are untouched and solid

i shoulda been looking other places than this area when i was buying mine. trade in value out here is alot more than most people in other towns are asking. i paid almost 16 for mine in great condition. i guess it was the only obs in good condition i could find at the time. given a redo i would definatly go elsewhere.

Im w/strokinnow . I paid $12000 last year for mine ( 97 cc sb 4x4 95000mi auto like new cond.-garage parked + never saw snow,1 owner and I know him) and it was a great price. They are selling for allot in MD. I stopped @ alocal dealer that had a 95 cc about a month ago-it had little rust and 165000 - they sold it at $10,???. The salesman looked at mine and said if I ever want to get rid of it he could easily get $16000.

Then what we need to do is buy all the OBS trucks around here for sale and ship em to you guys to sell for me. a truck like that wouldnt get 6k here. I bought a 95 dually 1 ton crew cab LOADED with gooseneck, 5th wheel, leather, all power, 132k on it and new tires for 7k OUT THE DOOR. You can get 4x4s around here with less than 140 k miles on them for less than 10 k clams ALL DAY LONG. Man, you guys outta come shopping here...>LOL

Next to the gym i go to there's a truck that's been parked for months-
1995 Ford F250 Powerstroke, stock, extended cab long bed with Camper.
He's asking $5000, and it's been sitting for a while!

I seen a 95 ext cab 4x4 go for 15 grand at the dealership last year but it was mint.A truck you are looking at would get around $6000 around here if it hasn't been in an accident

good luck
