I thought he said it's NOT worth it? (unless 500hp) which is barely anybody on here! ?
Here's my take on this... To tune for high HP requires maxing out the ICP and thus the HPOP capability, and after this is done with programming the only way to push the oil driven fuel plunger down harder is to do the IDM mod. For lower HP tunes there's reserve HPOP capability so that the ICP can be increased to push the fuel plunger down harder that way.
Also, there might be maximum injection pulse duration limits that ECM programming can't exceed, and by stretching the injection pulse some with an IDM mod you could get a little more fuel that way for high HP applications.
I'm pretty sure the statement "it's NOT worth it" is intended in the context that you've already got a suitable DP tune that's meeting your goals. I think he's saying if you want more to just have your DP re-programmed and skip the IDM mod as long as you're under 500 HP.
Well at least he's drinking at home and not at a bar, so that will be a little easier on the wallet.
yea thats true, but the price difference is still alot.
Ive broken it down before with the prices for can vs bottles and cans vs a keg, (alomst like genes graphs)... when your in college you gotta find ways to save money
Guys, while I was drinking MILLER LITE I did the ZOODAD. Did the foil delete last weekend and that was a PITA to get the IC pipes back on all by myself.
Brandon Yes to the live tuning story we won't some fact's and i know i'am not the only one that want's to know your fuel mileage on the way home, if it is a improvement. Thats after you learn to quit trying to push a hole in the floor board.
OK, mileage numbers are as follows going I got 10.3 MPG, now remember thats pulling 11.5K, UPHILL. return calculates out to 11.1 MPG, I asked Jody to do alot of things to my tunes when we went for live tuning, MPG increase was not top priority, controlling EGTS was. Ill start a new thread for the rest of the story.

Thanks Mark, it really only sprinkled for a little bit, never even phased the campfire chats.

The IDM mod does provide a power increase, but it needs a strong HPOP to supply the injectors the higher ICP to help atomize the fuel completely.
Wish yall were there, we(most of us) are home by now, and glad to see the families and loved ones.
look for threads on live tuning, and also threads on the dyno day, I am sure JD has already posted pics so yall can all see our ugly mugs.
Glad to see you got settled back in Brandon. We got just enough rain to cancel the dynos Friday night but other then that sprinkles all weekend and then turned off COLD this morning/
