i just noticed im missing four manifold bolts(two on each side) sheared right off. all the rest are rusted like crazy! i only have 38k on the damn truck. is this common, or maybe a tsb went out on it? i called ford dealership and they basically said tuff. i cant believe i have no recourse.....anybody know anything or have any idead?
yep very common problem with the exhaust manifold studs, you are pretty much on your own with it,if your mechanically inclined it's not that hard to replace the studs yourself.
I notice here and on other threads people talk about replacing the manifolds. Why? I understand if they are cracked that they need to be replaced but is there something about the manifolds that encourages the broken bolt thing? I'm sure this has been discussed before but I must have missed it. As long as I'm asking, Where can I get a good set of headers (if I have to replace my manifolds). I tow a camping trailer with this rig and I wouldn't want to do this again. Mine is a '99 F250 SD SC V10. Thanks.
