All right lets get this started. I have an 86 regular cab XL F150 5.0 with 130,000 miles on it. I will eventually be getting rid of my speed density and replacing it with MAF. My neighbor gave me lower intake, Upper intake, fuel rail, fuel injector wiring harness, computer, egr valve, and a few more things off of a i believe a 94 5.0 HO mustang. My question is can i swap all of the pieces out and put them on to my 86 non HO motor? or would it be easier to just get a mass air conversion kit? I would like to use the mustang intake just for the fact that it is a single TB instead of mine has Dual TB, and because ill eventually be putting a turbo on it.
You got most of what you need, I suggest you use the truck fuel rail however as it's bent to meet the truck fuel lines while the car rail is not. It'll fit the mustang lower intake fine too. The only things you are missing are the mass air meter and it's wiring, and of course a respectable cam. You will see very little difference with all this stuff on the truck motor unless the cam is changed, but it should run fine.
Since i do have mostly everything here, and will have in the near future, what type of cam do you suggest i use? I would like to try to keep my fuel economy if possible, cause right now i get 23mpg on the freeway. What type of harness would you suggest for the mass air? web sites will be very helpful for me plz.
The Comp cams 31-255-5 with new lifters is a good choice for a 5.0 truck motor. Also consider adding a 1" phonelic spacer between the upper and lower portions of the car intake, the longer runners will help make more low rpm power.
What gearing does the truck have and what speeds do you drive at to get that fuel milage, that's got to be the best I've heard of for a 5.0 truck.
Its the 5.0 with the AOD transimission. At 55mph the rpms are around 1500. That phonelic spacer would be great for me since i try not to go over 2000 rpms, but there are those occasions when i go way past my 85mph top speed recording on my speedometer . What do you expect, im 20. Would a throttle body spacer work also, or would that not add any significant power?

Ahh.. so you drive sensably and get good milage.. who knew it was possible? I have been reading through some of the new truck pages here on FTE and see lots of people complaining about the poor fuel milage they get driving a 7000lb truck at 90mh. That's weapons grade stipid right there.

TB spacer is a good idea on a carbed motor, useless on an Tuned Port EFI motor because it's in the wrong place. The spacer between the upper and lower lengthens the runners and tunes them to a lower rpm, so it serves a purpose.
